About the neighbourhood
Hale Kona Kai is conveniently located in the village of Kailua-Kona. Walk just two blocks for restaurants, entertainment, or shopping~~even a daily Farmer's Market!

The Big Island boasts the clearest water and finest snorkeling sites of all the Hawaiian Islands: The dry west side of the Island has no less than 20 of the best snorkeling areas in the Islands. Excellent swimming and snorkeling are at the gorgeous, Magic Sands Beach four miles south, or Kahalu'u Beach Park~~five miles away.

If you prefer to stay active yet keep your feet dry, try hiking and sightseeing awe-inspiring Volcanoes National Park, at two-and-a-half hours drive south.
Getting around
Situated ideally downtown Kona, yet hugging the shoreline and seeming secluded. Just one block away, Alii Drive is very active with walkers, joggers, and bicyclers on it's wide, pedestrian shoulders.
The local shuttle bus stops a block away for a quick ride north, and taxi service is always available.
We recommend a rental car to see all the sights on the Big Island.
