We stayed for a weekend and had a great time exploring the Ballard area. Discovery Park and the Chittenden Locks are within walking distance and gave us a different perspective of Seattle. The Ballard Abode was very comfortable, clean and, best of all, quiet!

About the neighbourhood
There are many neighborhoods around Seattle that were little towns before becoming part of greater Seattle. Ballard is one of these and so, it has a vibrant little downtown area that includes the Ballard Avenue Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Historically Ballard was a fishing village and still has many inhabitants of Nordic ancestry. Ballard is a great place to navigate from as you explore not only the sites in Seattle but also the San Juan Islands and the Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park. Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument is nearby. The Canadian cities of Vancouver and Victoria are not far away.
Getting around
Walk to one of nearby restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops just a few blocks away on Market Street and historic Ballard Avenue. And spend Sunday morning wandering through the Ballard Farmers Market. Walk a bit further to the famous Ballard Locks. Also nearby is Ballard Bridge, Green Lake, Fremont and Golden Gardens where you can enjoy the beach. Downtown Seattle is minutes away with the Space Needle, the Music Experience and, of course, the famous Pike Market. Ballard Abode is 4 short blocks from the bus line that goes directly to downtown.
