La Petite Maison Blanche

The courtyard - perfect for al fresco dining and barbecues
1 of 11The courtyard - perfect for al fresco dining and barbecues
Townhouse -
2 Bedrooms , 2 Bathrooms , Sleeps 6
Marseillan, Herault, Occitanie
Our house in Rue Louis Blanc is a typical French village town house, with a courtyard to barbecue fish from the market held on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and table and chairs for al-fresco dining.

The kitchen, dining room and lounge all have modern facilities and a wood burning stove. There are volcanic steps up to two bedrooms, perfect for four people to sleep comfortably, both with ensuite bathrooms.

It is only five minutes walk from the town centre with greengrocers, delicatessens, a number of bakeries, and just a ten minute drive to the glorious 10km long sandy beach, dotted with beach bars.

About the neighbourhood
La Petite Maison Blanche sits on the edge of the old town, a maze of narrow twisting streets, lined with impressive doorways, dark passages, the arched doors of vignerons’ caves, and overhanging gargoyles and carvings.

Marseillan itself nestles in a corner of the Etang de Thau, 15 minutes from the Mediterranean and a short drive to Sete and Agde.

Reputed to be the oldest village in France, built to receive classic wines from Burgundy and finest Clarets from the nearby Canal du Midi. Its two-star Michelin restaurant, La Table de Emilie, is one of the finest in France.

The main port, in contrast, is busy and wide open to the sun, a great place to meet friends for a glass of wine or beer and some oysters.

There you may be drawn by the sound of a raucous peña band celebrating the v...
