Overview
Sainte-Mere-Eglise, Manche, Basse-Normandie, Normandy
This charming country cottage is situated in a tranquil hamlet, half an hour south of Cherbourg, only 5 minutes drive from the sandy Normandy landing beaches and less than 5 miles from the vibrant market town of Sainte Mere Eglise, with its ancient church, cafés, restaurants and interesting museums. Relax in the large private garden or explore the historic and picturesque sites of the region. Savour the delights of French cuisine in the excellent local restaurants!

You can stay for as short a time as you wish, but there is minimum charge, which is often never the less reasonable for a shorter duration stay of your choice.

The cottage has 2 large sitting-rooms, one with wood-burning stove for cosy cooler days and one overlooking the long, peaceful garden. There is a spacious kitchen and two bedrooms upstairs, each with pocket sprung doub...

A lovely place to stay in a delightful location. We were given first rate information and Alicia was very helpful. The cottage was just as described and lived up to our expectations. We loved the garden, it was so quiet and peaceful. A wonderful place to relax on a sunny day. A good choice of DVDs made up for the lack...

My 20 year old son and I had a really great time here and used it as a base to explore all corners of La Manche (and numerous patisserie's too!). We managed to visit the 5 D-Day beaches as well as Pegasus Bridge and Pointe du Hoc. The American cemetery at Omaha Beach was very poignant and despite watching many...

My wife and I stayed here fro 10 days and the location couldn't have been better. Beaches less than 10 minutes away and shops about the same. The cottage was more than amply equipped as the owners provided everything you needed.

About the neighbourhood
The immediate area around the cottage is of unspoilt tranquil farm land, the hamlet where the cottage is situated consisting of fewer than a dozen traditional houses. But only five minutes away by car are the wide sandy beaches of the east coast, and closer still in Ravenoville Bourg is the excellent Eucalyptus restaurant. A little further away in Sainte-Mere-Eglise (7 minutes by car) the choice is wider, including the Auberge John Steele, named after the US paratrooper of WW2. Enjoy the farm museum, the Airborne museum, the traditional Thursday market in Sainte-Mère-Eglise, or the regular vides greniers / bric-a-brac markets in the villages. You will be spoilt for things to do and places to see!

When the nearest port at Cherbourg is not an option, in winter for instance, the port of Caen is an excellent alternative only 1.5 hours drive away. The N13 motorway is always an easy route, fast and uncrowded.
