Comfortable clean house in old town. Plenty of shops and restaurants offering very good value nearby. VERY steep hilly streets. We had trouble finding the house but local people kindly showed us the way. Bedrooms ok. Kitchen/living room very good. Great rooftop terrace. Good value.More

Exploring the area

Inland from Almunecar lies the Alpujarra National Park, where you can tour the pretty white villages, and visit the famous centre of water source Lanjaron. Granada, the city and home of the world-famous Alhambra Palace, is just a 50 minute drive along a new motorway. Try to book your visit to the Alhambra online in advance, as it gets very busy in the high season, but well worth the visit.

Golf courses. Horse riding. Skiing in the Sierra Nevada, are also nearby. Almunecar coastal waters offer great water sports and scuba diving is very popular.

La Herradura and Salobrena are typical unspoilt bays and there is an exclusive 500 berth marina at Marina del Este. Nerja is a pretty village along the coast, famous for its spectacular stalactite caves. For the adventurous,...

How to get there
Airport: Malaga or Granada: 80.0 km
Railway: Malaga: 72.0 km
It is an easy drive if you fly into Malaga or Granada and rent a car, just an hour from either airport. Parking can be difficult in the town during the high season, but you can drop off your luggage close to the house, then take the car to a parking place and forget about it! Walk everywhere, get plenty of exercise, just use the car for trips in the beautiful surrounding area.

Don't even bring a car, but come by bus from Malaga central bus station. The journey is 1 1/2 hours, buses leave regularly and it's very economical - just 7€ each one way or 13€ return.

PLEASE NOTE: The hilly streets of the Old Town mean it is not possible to access for the disabled or anyone who has difficulty walking.
