Spend your holidays in this truly unique, contemporary style villa in Salobreña. The villa is set on a plot of approximately 900 m2 and it has a built size of 272 m2. You are able to enjoy an amazing view to the sea, the mountains and the Moorish castle of Salobreña from throughout the villa and on the terraces.
The Layout: There is a ramp up to the villa, which is on the same level as the main level of the house, the pool and the main terrace. On this level of the villa, there are 3 double bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and with direct access to the pool terrace. Villa Review
Villa Andante:
The Villa is set near the top of a hill and offers superb views of Salobreña and the Costa Tropical. The Villa is modern in design with much said about its curved roof lines and use of LED’s. The four bedrooms all have really lovely en-suites and there is air conditioning throughout the property.
The villa promises so much, as does the write up on the various websites on which it is advertised.
However, the villa is tired and not as described. The owner (not Grandes Villas - they are the mgmt company) obviously lives in the property most of the year and rents it out during the Summer. The double garage is locked and throughout the villa there are cabinets and wardrobes that are locked with signs saying ‘Private - Owners’ which limits the amount of space available for your belongings. There is a large hot tub on the upstairs terrace which is not shown in the pictures or in the description which is only for use by the owner. However it is right at the front of the terrace so limits the space available to sit and enjoy the views. Also the lovely looking rattan sofa set seen in the photos has been replaced by some cheap wooden furniture that needs attention. The paint on the walls of the upstairs terrace and drive are peeling. The glass balustrade is dirty and needs cleaning. The upstairs terrace is not an inviting place to sit and we used it only once or twice in two weeks. It has the most incredible views but sitting on the wooden furniture all you saw was smeared glass.
The windows and glass around the pool were marked with timescale and red Sahara dust. We insisted they clean the pool glass as you couldn’t see through it. It was lovely when it was done.
The photos of the villa are misleading as the LED’s which give it the ‘Wow’ factor are in fact damaged and, or broken. There are different colours along the lines and there are places where they have been painted over or they have corroded. Photos below of listing and reality.
When driving through the gate there is a very ‘steep’ ramp up to the villa level. There is a broken tile on the edge of the path to the front door which needs repairing. There were also cockroaches all over the driveway when we returned at night. A few were found in the bedrooms so we had to keep the doors closed. They are everywhere in the garden and round the pool. This needs to be sorted. No other villa we have stayed at in over 18 years had this issue. Horrible….
The initial cleaning mentioned in the listing obviously had not been done as we had to mop the floors and clean the shower screens which were limescale marked.
There is no safe at the property but all windows have grills which can all be closed with one button. Again though the shutter in the downstairs toilet is missing it’s closer so is open to a break in. Also the main living room shutter broke when we were there. No one’s fault but it took three separate visits from engineers and we were left for three days with a massive closed shutter blocking the view from the living room. Then it had to be left open until it could be repaired. We had to argue to get the alarm fob so we we felt safe. Although there are supposed to be guards patrolling the urbanisation it is not a gated community and is easily accessible.
The community pool, tennis & football courts are quite a way down the hill and you will need to drive to them.
The ‘luxury’ mentioned in the listing is missing from the furniture which is pro dominantly from IKEA. All the cutlery, crockery and pans are from there and these are nice.
There are no full length mirrors upstairs or in two of the bedrooms downstairs.
The management company need to check every part of the villa during swap overs as things are not being done. One of the actions required of guests leaving the villa is to ensure the BBQ is cleaned. We had to clean it and remove burnt on food.
Had the management company ensured the villa was presented as shown in the listing then we would have had no problems recommending the villa. As it stands we left the villa in a better state than when we arrived and received our deposit back. We not rebook
