Live in a bakery for a change! This1897 adobe building was artistically converted into a unique 2 bedroom, 2 bath home. Located in the historic heart of Tucson where you can walk to everything. Lofty exposed beam ceilings, huge, light filled great room, the charm and ambiance that only an authentic commercial space can give. WHO SHOULD STAY IN THE DOWNTOWN ADOBE? The traveler who appreciates unique, authentic spaces, but also values comfort and cleanliness. Who wants to be near everything, but also wants the quiet respite provided by thick adobe walls. People who like eclectic urban neighborhoods, enjoy the opportunity to walk to dinner, and be blocks from the streetcar. Perfect for two couples, families with children >12, or groups who may have different interests or schedules. ...Live in a bakery for a change! People who like eclectic urban neighborhoods, enjoy the opportunity to walk to dinner, and be blocks from the streetcar. Perfect for two couples, families with children >12, or groups who may have different interests or schedules. THE SPACE- Lofty beam ceilings and exposed adobe brick. A huge great room, natural stone floors, beautiful old growth cedar doors and molding. Luxury linens, quality glassware, new beds and sofas, a sprinkling of antiques, custom made furniture, original artwork, designer lighting with an industrial flair. Full kitchen, SS appliances, dishwasher, gas stove, gas grill, your own washer/dryer, WIFI internet, flat screen TV, coffee maker, microwave, ice maker, toaster, blender, cookware. The first bedroom has a queen bed, second bedroom, adjacent to garden, has a gel memory foam topped king that can convert to 2 twins if needed. Basement den used to be a root cellar, and has a daybed for naps away from it all, but is not counted as a bedroom. Front bathroom has tub, second bathroom has low threshold shower and ADA sink. Both have new, elevated toilets and new shower fixtures. Air conditioning/forced gas heat are seldom needed in the fall, winter, or spring because of the temperature stabilizing effects of the thermal mass provided by thick adobe walls and natural stone flooring. A TYPICAL DAY Breakfast in the warm Tucson sun, in your private enclosed garden courtyard. Linger over coffee under the Seville orange tree. Walk 3 blocks down to Tucson's oldest Yoga Studio for a morning class. Tour the local Radio station on the next block, housed in an old Victorian along with an impressive collection of old vinyl. Stroll over to bohemian North 4th Ave for original shopping. Visit the art Museum. A short streetcar ride/walk further brings you to the UA Browse the internet at the gathering table in the huge, light filled great room, while watching the bikes and pedestrians pass by. The west window gives a perfect view of the brilliant pink and orange Tucson sunsets. Have your friends or colleagues over for drinks before strolling to the entertainment district for dinner and a streetcar to a UA basketball game. They will wonder why they are staying at that far-off resort hotel, squeezed into 400 square feet of phony western architecture, with only one overpriced restaurant in walking distance. If you are tired of dining out, you can barbeque on the gas grill. Dine al fresco in the courtyard, while the fountain gtrickles. The train passes by at just the right distance...romantic rumbling evoking memories, but not too loud. It's a quiet neighborhood, with sidewalks and trees. People walk and cycle by. Because of the low humidity, the desert night sky is brilliant. (Which is why there are several observatories in the area.)More

As we drove up to this place I was perplexed. Kind of a low key area and not what I expected. I was just not familiar with how small the downtown of this sprawling city really is. The house was just perfect for us -...More

About the neighbourhood
Armory Park, in the heart of Tucson, is one of the original neighborhoods on the National Historic Registry, The eclectic mixture of students, hipsters, artists and characters that all coexist in Tucson's famous laid-back style. A walk score of 92, and just 4 blocks from the new modern streetcar which will take you from the convento Augustine west of I10, the Convention Center, downtown, 4th avenue, West University, through the University of Arizona, and all the way to the University Medical Center. Armory Park is home to museums, galleries, mansions built by the RR barons alongside adobe row houses, an audiophile radio station, a theatre, and a Flamenco Tapas Restaurant. Adjacent to the urban center with shops and many restaurants; including the oldest continuously operated Mexican Re...
How to get there
From I-10; take the Congress/Broadway exit East all the way through the downtown, until you get to 4th Ave. Turn right (South) on 4th Avenue and go 4 blocks to 15th Street. The Downtown Adobe is on the NE corner of the intersection, you cant miss it, it looks just like the picture. You can usually park on 15th street or right in front of the house. Don't park any closer to the corner than 20 feet. 30 feet approaching the stop sign. I've tagged the curb with yellow paint as a guide.
