Overview

2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
Whitney-on-Wye, Herefordshire, England
Montgomery's Coach House is a conversion, carried out to a very high standard. It aims to retain the character of the original building, whilst benefiting from the modern comforts expected by today's discerning holiday makers. Minimum stay 3 nights at most times of the year, except at peak times.

The conversion was undertaken by local craftsmen and the interior is a mix of original stone, old brick and new oak. A flagstone hallway with a bespoke oak staircase opens to the main room. The open plan layout downstairs is perfect for modern day living and is cosy in winter with its under-floor heating and wood burner (initial supply of logs provided). The TV has internet connection so you can stream movies, plus there is a DVD player & a selection of DVD's for you to borrow. The seating and dining area leads through to the ful...

Interaction with guests
The owners' home is adjacent to the Coach House, but the property is fully self-contained and private. Help is on hand if you need it, otherwise once we've settled you in, you will be left in peace to enjoy your stay! There is plenty of literature, including walking books and maps available in the property. We also provide hand-outs of walks from the door. If you would like advice on where to go and what to do, either before or during your stay, please ask. For pet owners, we are happy to advise on popular, dog friendly eateries in the area - of which there is a growing number!

About the neighbourhood
The Wye Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), with its scenic landscape encompassing the borderlands between England and Wales. A visit to Herefordshire combines breathtaking countryside and a wide range of options for outdoor activities, with less energetic pursuits such as sampling the great, local produce including beef, cheeses and cider. The area is home to many market towns and black and white villages - a trip by car along the black and white village trail, with frequent stops for tea and cake, is a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon! For culture, the city of Hereford with its magnificent cathedral, Mappa Mundi and Chained Library should not be missed.
Getting around
To get out and about, a car is needed, but there are many top places ranging from a few minutes' to less than an hour's drive away.

To get up close and personal with the area's wild life, you can choose from a canoe trip down the Wye - the pub opposite is one of the start / drop-off points for the major canoe companies; or 40 minutes' away, why not visit the amazing red kite feeding centre at Gigrin farm, Rhayader? You can combine this with walking or admiring the stunning scenery and incredible dams of the Elan Valley.

The choices are endless and we are happy to help you decide how to spend your time with us if you need inspiration.
