Cottage
Kingfisher cottage is a newly renovated 100 year old plus stone cottage with a whole lot of charm and character. The Farm is situated in the picturesque and secluded mountains some 25 kilometers (10km tar and 15km gravel) outside the town of Montagu.
It is ideal for a couple wanting to get away for a romantic break or even a family, as there are two small sleeper couches in the lounge for the young ones (additional rates apply).
The fully equipped kitchen has a two-plate gas stove, bar fridge and tea and coffee available.
All linen and bedding is provided, and there is no need to carry bulky towels with you either.
In line with our sustainable operation and to minimize the ecological impact we supply biodegradable guest amenities and dish-washing liquid.

Beautifully peaceful
We had a wonderful stay at Kingfisher Cottage. It’s perfect for unwinding and forgetting the rest of the world. We definitely recommend purchasing a fresh trout from the hosts to braai.

Quietude, nature and a beautiful cottage
It is very nice to stay in this cottage, which is cosy and has its own garden. The sustainable farm to which it is attached is a perfect example of how men and nature can work together: inspiring! At night you can see the stars and enjoy the silence. Great relaxed walking and hiking nearby. Special feature is the home dog who knows all the routes and will walk with you (if you'd like). Hosts are very nice, and in full respect of privacy. All in all a beautiful experience!

Perfect Stone Cottage get-away in a quiet hidden valley
Our stay at Marco and Vivian's cottage far exceeded our expectations! The stone cottage was perfect - everything was more than presented regarding the accommodation. The setting is perfect - hidden away in a quiet valley. We did have two small dogs with us that got on so well with their German Short-haired Pointer. The hidden gem that wasn't mentioned is that the farm is completely sustainable! Solar panels power the cottage and farm, and their trout farm is run in a sustainable manner. Marco offers tours of the trout farm, a tasting of their delicious smoked trout and pate's as well as some fly fishing in their dam. We will definitely be returning soon to explore the hiking trails around their farm!

How to get there
Unfortunately there are a number of roadworks along the way (one on the N1 near Durbanville, another just past the Huguenot tunnel and again between Aston and Montagu).
The Ashton / Montagu ones can be avoided by the following way:
Continue on the N1 through Worcester and past De Doorns (about 22km after De Doors is a turn off right towards Montagu on the R318) take this road for 66km until you reach the turnoff to Pietersfontein to your left.
Continue for 9km on this gravel road.
At a small settlement (below earth dam), turn right onto small dirt road, past the Farm „Mooi Erfnis‟
Continue for 4.8km until reaching „Langhoogte Farm‟ on your left. Here take another left at a sign for Kingfisher cottage up the hill to a carport.
