Overview
Cottage -
2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 3
Broadstairs, Isle of Thanet, Kent, England
Dickens Walk Cottage is ideally and centrally situated for a short break: 15 metres from the front door to the promenade overlooking Viking Bay's 150m long sandy beach and Chiappini's café (our favourite place to sit with a tea and look out to sea) and less than a 2 minute walk to shops, post box, cinema, restaurants and the best fish and chips in Broadstairs.

Many of our guests are repeat customers. The cottage is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic getaway or for small families wanting to relax on the coast. We have bookings all year round, there is always something fun to do here whatever the weather.

The property has a large wall mounted TV with Sky box (features internet tv with amongst other things: Iplayer, Itv player, Amazon Prime, Netflix (with your own Netflix account). We also have a DVD player and a selection...

Good things about this flat are its location near sea front and near good shops, it was clean and tidy upon arrival, it has a modern TV and a welcoming bottle of wine, carton of milk and pack of biscuits. Making the booking was very efficient and we are sorry that we cannot honestly write a more positive report. However,...

Hello, thank you for taking the time to write a review of our property. I am sorry to hear that you did not experience an enjoyable stay with us. I will amend our listing to explain that the hob/oven is an induction one and that the fridge has no freezer compartment. I will buy some extra cushions for the sofa...

This was our second visit. The cottage has been improved since our first visit with mould removed and work in the bathroom. We woke up on our first morning to cold water. We read the instructions and it was quite clear that there was some sort of problem. Texts, calls and emails were sent to the owner and cleaner whose...

I'm so sorry to hear this - cold water is obviously unacceptable ! Our cleaner/property manager lives around the corner, and her husband is a builder, so any issues are usually dealt with immediately. For some reason, the messages you sent didn't come through, otherwise we would have been onto it straight away, and contacted you straight back to let...

Broadstairs is a delightful lived-in town by the sea. And this is a perfectly placed cottage with very good amenities and comforts. This one-storey apartment opens on to a quiet thoroughfare but within easy walking distance of lovely stretches of sandy beaches as well as some very good pubs and restaurants. Slight disturbance from merry passers by on a Friday...

Management response:

I'm so glad you had a lovely relaxing stay with us. May is one of my favourite times to go down, the beaches are almost empty and the weather is often lovely and warm.

Short Break Special Offers:
When we go away for the weekend, we hate the stress of having to get up and vacate the room by 10 o'clock on a Sunday morning. We think it is much nicer to get up leisurely, listen to some music or watch tv, read the papers and drink endless cups of coffee? We offer weekend breaks that encourage you to stay until 6pm on Sunday, leaving you to spend the day exactly how you want to. Our 3 night weekday breaks offer the same flexibility: arriving betweem 2-8 pm on Monday, you can use all the Cottage facilities until 6pm on Thursday.

About the neighbourhood
During the 19th century, Broadstairs was a grand seaside town, with Charles Dickens a frequent visitor. Today, with a population of 24,000, it remains a picturesque place to get away from it all. In 2007 and 2008, the Guardian newspaper voted Broadstairs runner-up 'best seaside town in Britain'. In summer, the bandstand has a full programme of entertainment and the folk festival in August brings live music and activities for all throughout the town.

Beaches. Surrounded by seven bays, the closest, Viking Bay, is lined with 150 metres of golden sand and in summer has lifeguards, donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows and trampolines to keep the kids happy. Nearby Joss Bay is a surfing beach with lifeguards. Equipment is available for rent (www.jossbay.co.uk). <BR&gt... more
