Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Brilliant
Have just returned from a four day family get together, 8 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs. Absolutely nothing to complain about, because the weather was so bad we did not venture far , but no problem, everything you needed was there. Kitchen was exceptional, everything and more in the way of crockery , cutlery pots and pans Good quality bed linen and towels. Books and board games would keep you going for months. Although we did not use any of the facilities for disabled people It was obvious that a considerable sum was spent and I could imagine guests with various needs would have a fantastic holiday here Will definitely return

Stunning Property
What a brilliant house to accommodate a family get together of 12 adults and 1 baby. The house was chosen for its size and location which was easy to get to from England and Scotland. We did not use any of the disable equipment, but I have never seen a property that addresses the needs of the disabled to such a high standard, including the rise and fall hob and sink in the kitchen This will enable them to have a brilliant break away. The fully accessible outside area's and access to the river walk path were great, although not used in Jan the large outside table with shelter over would benefit any spring/summer/autumn visit We cooked on our first evening and found all the items we needed in the kitchen. Parking and arrangements for the opening of the property were confirmed by the owner without any problems. The house was clean, tidy and lovely bedding - all of the beds made up as per prior agreement with the owner. Would definitely recommend this property to all

Large, highly accessible house and pet-friendly house
There were 6 adults, across 3 generations, in our party plus one dog. This is a stunning house and the floors, apart from the stairs, are all smooth/wooden surfaces which made it very easy for my father's 'wheelie' (3-wheeled walker). We didn't need to use many of the facilities e.g. hoist, changing bed, rise & fall sink/hob, but were grateful for other thoughtful extras e.g. internal lift, sensor lighting in the hallways, rise & recline chairs, touch-sensitive bedside lights, ramps at front & back door, accessible garden and even a piano! A fabulous find and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend or to visit again.

Fantastic house
Large house that easily accommodates large parties. We have just returned from a weekend away with 2 other families (11 adults and kids on total) and The layout of the house is great, a large kitchen allowing everyone to gather, and large sitting room for relaxing and games. We didn’t have a lot of time to explore but The river walk up to the distillery is pleasant and not to far, and the shops and pubs (although a couple of pubs wouldn’t let the children in with us as they were under 14) are all close by.

We are so glad that you had a good stay. Yes pubs in Scotland are not always child friendly. The Powfoot Hotel (a short drive away) would be good for a family lunch. Sarah

Brilliant!
We haven't been able to go on a family holiday for many years as we needed a very large place that had facilities for our disabled son.It was so big we were able to take a couple of his carers as well. The rooms were very spacious, clean and were beautifully decorated. We loved the wooden floors and the huge kitchen table. We were in the kitchen most of the time eating, playing cards, board games, conker battles and just socialising. It wasn't until later in the week that we went into the sitting room to watch something. The house is really well equipped and has everything you could possibly need.It has loads of books and games, the cards were well used! It's only a few minutes walk from Aldi , Annan town centre and also great walks nearby for our dog.We visited Mabie Farm Park which was a great day out and I'd really recommend it,also the Roman wall,Sycamore Gap from the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and the Gretna shopping outlet. We phoned and asked for sides to be put on a profiling bed for our son,it was a wide bed and I was able to get in beside him and read him stories every night which he loved.I would definitely recommend the Moat House .

An excellent family Easter weekend at The Moat House.
We arrived in convoy (4 cars) at 4pm and got immediate entry to the house. We were all delighted with the house and quickly found our separate rooms. Everyone was excited especially the children who quickly dumped their bags in their room and went to the park behind the house for a scout around. The adults made good use of the well equipped kitchen and prepared the meal. The house is well placed for visits to the coast and walks on the beach. When we went to the beach the tide started to come in, and moved at 3 meters per 25 seconds. So take care when walking on the beach. The facilities in the house were excellent and I would recommend The Moat House to everyone.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay so much (apart from the speed of the tide which is obviously outside or our control) but wonder why you chose only to give us 4 out of 5 (as apposed to 5/5 which we get from all our other guests) ? If there was something not quite right we'd love to hear about it so that we can correct it for other guests.

Mr
The property was well presented and maintained. The facilities for wheelchair users are excellent and of a very high standard. The only thing that could be done to improve the stay would have been an extra towel!

Really impressed with the house and it's facilities
Location is near perfect. Quiet, yet near all amenities. Ideal base for our club MTB trip to 7stanes. The house was very clean, and rooms large and comfortable. Kitchen well appointed. Lovely patio/garden out the back with superb BBQ facilities. We'll be back.

Perfection
The house was spacious, clean and sympathetic to the needs of people with disabilities. The bathrooms were fully accessible and there was a wheelchair provided for use in the shower which was very welcome. Although the weather was not particularly warm for August we were all able to enjoy a barbecue outside. The garden area was brilliant and again accessible for wheelchairs. We walked from the house down by the river which was lovely and we then returned past the house and up to the distillery where some of our party went on the tour after we had all indulged in the delightful cafe menu. We particularly appreciated the large table in the kitchen which easily accommodated all 12 of us and was a suitable height for both wheelchairs and high chairs. We enjoyed cooked breakfasts in the mornings and were able to prepare evening meals as the kitchen was thoughtfully equipped. All in all a very successful family weekend in a property which suited all our needs.

Thanks for your brilliant review. We have tried to design the house for everyone's needs and it's wonderful to hear that your all had such a good time. It's worth pointing out that unfortunately the local distillery's tours are not currently wheelchair accessible but the the cafe certainly is and is a lovely place for a daytime meal.
