Momteloro is just as I had imagined, a beautiful suite overlooking the ancient town of Anghiari. Anghiari is surrounded by fertile land embracing the Tiber and Arno rivers. Dating from the 14th Century the town walls have provided strong protection from the historical events in its long history. Celebrated by the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci, the Battle of Anghiari in 1440 established Anghiari's allegiance to Florentine culture. The Battle is commemorated every June 29th with the picturesque Palio della Vittoria in the town square.<BR> <BR>The area is rich in art. By Road<BR> <BR>Anghiari is situated in Southern Tuscany close to the border with Umbria. If travelling from Florence, the easiest way is to take the AI motorway south and exit at Arezzo. Then follow the signs to Sansepolcro.<BR> <BR>If travelling from Perugia airport (70 kms) or Rome the easiest way is to take the E45 which is directly linked to the A1 North-South motorway between Milan and Naples. From the E45 take the Sansepolcro exit and follow the signs for Anghiari.<BR> <BR>GPS Cordinates:<BR> <BR>Lat: 43°32'33'' N -Long: 12°3'19' E<BR> <BR>There are plenty of refreshment stops on the way.
