Condo/Apartment -
2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6
Anghiari, Province of Arezzo, Tuscany
Set in the heart of the historic centre of Anghiari, a beautiful, medieval, hill top town in Tuscany, this apartment has been renovated to an extremely high, luxurious standard, whilst respecting the history of the building, maintaining as many original features as possible. Set in the former 16th century convent of “La Maddalena” this type of living accommodation is unique within the town, with the original nuns 'cells' converted into a number of flats all linked by an internal courtyard and wide communal stairways. The courtyards have barely changed since its original use and provide a stunning entrance to this home.Large wooden, double doors lead you away from the street and into the former convent. The passageway, lined with bikes and old vespas will transport you through time as soon as you walk inside and leads into the c... Read more

This former convent is located half way up the steep roman road in Anghiari, A heavy timber door on to the main street provides access to (for us) a delightfully dilapidated but clean corridor and inner courtyard surrounded by arcades, and steps worn by centuries of nuns. Don't be pout off by the dampish odour and labyrinth of corridors or bats redolent of post war black and white Italian films, because the apartment is a delight. Clean, bright, comfortable and cool in the heat of the day due to thick walls.

It comprises a very generous corridor, top lit off-which are former nuns cells - a kitchen with a lovely view of the garden below and hills beyond. a living room with large comfortable sofa bed and two double bedrooms and a large bathroom. there is also a utility room with washing mashing, ironing board etc.

I have known this lovely town for over 25 years as a dear late childhood friend who had lived close to this apartment for half a lifetime. Stephanie Jordan...

We stayed in Il Conventone for a week in July and could not have asked for more from our time there. The flat itself was spacious, beautifully furnished and well equipped. The lovely shutters kept everything cool (which was a blessing as we arrived in the midst of a Tuscan heatwave!) but when opened displayed amazing views over the town.

The location in the old town was also great. We were staying for the annual music festival and found that all the concerts were in easy walking distance, as were numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Anghiari itself is pretty hilly and the walk up to the flat is steep but not unmanageable.

Of particular note was the high quality of the service we received during our stay. Tracey and her husband from ItCasa were warm and friendly in welcoming us to Anghiari and then went above and beyond in helping out during our stay. We had a few issues including a lost passport and locking ourselves out of the flat and on each occasion, they...
