Rose-covered stone cottage for 2 in the heart of the D-Day landings, 2km from Utah Beach, in a rural hamlet of stone houses, dairy farms and cider orchards, close to shops, beaches and restaurants and set in a regional wildlife and nature park. Locations from Band of Brothers eps 2 & 3 are close by: Manoir de Brécourt 100m, Utah Beach 2 km and Carentan 11km. The spacious sitting room (4.5mx5.5m) has a vaulted ceiling, large stone fireplace with woodburning stove and ancient, elm beams. The double bedroom has ensuite shower-room with WC, heated towel rail and mirrored cabinet. The good-sized dining kitchen (3mx5.5m) is fully equipped and has a dining table and chairs. Just off the kitchen is a laundry with washing machine and further toilet with washbasin. A rotary dryer is in the garden. Equipment includes full-size gas cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, kettle, filter coffee-maker, toaster, sandwich-maker, blender, 32” flatscreen TV with UK satellite channels, DVD player and broadband WIFI. Within walking distance are the nearby village with artisanal bakeries and fish-shops selling the day's catch. Close by are sandy beaches, including the Utah Beach landing beach for D-Day, the Beauguillot wetlands bird and nature reserve, long walks, cycle paths on the flat, fishing, museums and historic sites, restaurants, shops, chateaux and ancient churches. Busy weekly markets, harbours, marinas and more shops and museums are in the nearby towns of Carentan and Ste Mère Eglise and the charming fishing villages, St Vaast La Houge and Barfleur. Omaha, Juno and Gold beaches, Mont Saint Michel, Barneville-Carteret, Bayeux, Cherbourg, Rouen and Caen and the American, British and German WWII cemeteries are all in easy driving distance. Excellent museums nearby are at Utah Beach, St Come du Mont, Quineville and Ste Mére Église. More

Lovely small cottage - ideal for 2 people. Close to Utah beach and very convenient for other D-Day sights and memorials. Owners live next door and are very helpful and knowledgeable having been 10 years in the area. Log burner to keep us warm on...More

the accommodation was very comfortable & easily found following the directions from the owners who welcomed us on arrival. The cottage was very handy for the beach but also if you had an interest in D Day landings only a 5 minute drive away. Plenty...More

About the neighbourhood
The cottage is in the Contentin regional conservation park, near beaches and bird and nature sanctuaries. The region is rural, tranquil and unspoiled although shops, traditional markets and supermarkets are a short drive away. The region is a major centre of D-Day and WWII heritage, with Utah Beach 4 miles and other landing beaches nearby. There are many world-renowned museums and markets and specialist shops for souvenirs and militaria. Mont St Michel and Bayeux are in driving distance. See also the charming fishing villages with restaurants serving the local catch and pleasure ports and marinas.
Getting around
The nearby village is 2 miles away and can be walked to through small country lanes. Cycling is easy on the flat terrain. Utah Beach is in walking distance and all of the major D-Day sites and museums, also Bayeux and Mont St Michel, are in easy driving distance.
