Sit outside in the morning for coffee, or in the evening to watch the sunset while listening to the waves and catching the ocean breezes. Private entrance to your second floor home! A full kitchen allows you to eat in whenever you like but you are still close enough to town to head in to one of the outstanding cafes and restaurants. A short walk down the beach will take you there in minutes. Or purchase tamales and tortillas from the street vendors in the neighborhood.
A large bathroom, built-in wardrobe, and a roomy living space make Casa de Sonrisas the perfect home base while you explore all that Riviera Nayarit has to offer: colonial buildings in nearby towns, surfing in Sayulita, jet-skiing, mountain drives, ancient ruins, hot springs, volcanos, markets, and miles and miles of beach. You can easily explore the nearby towns in the area - San Pancho, Rincon de Guaybitos, Los Ayala, and Lo de Marcos. You will be about an hour from Playa las Tortugas and the turtle camp there. San Blas is another hour beyond.
All linens and towels are supplied (including beach towels). I have tried to equip the home with everything you will need - basic spices, cooking oil, bottled water, etc.) but if there is anything else you require, just ask. The property has two rental units as well as the owner's home. They all share a courtyard and garden as well as a pool. Beach chairs also available for guests.
I am located in Colonia Pescadores in La Penita. This is an authentic Mexican village, not a flashy resort town. It is a quiet, laid-back neighborhood with a true flavor of Mexico. The street is a mix of homes, small local businesses, a few hotels/rentals, a school across the street, and lovely neighbors!

Our family (two adults and one 16 y.o) spent Christmas week in the Casa de Sonrisas unit of Casa Pacifico. It was perfect- had every thing we could possibly need (and many things we didn't know we would need). Finding coffee, sugar, creamer and a loaf of cinnamon bread and a tin of cookies waiting for us was a great way to start. We were just a block to beach, a few blocks to a restaurant, a few more to town. We felt safe, immersed in the town's culture, with plenty to do and see (or not!). When not on the beach or hunting down tacos/churros - the terrace was our daytime hangout spot, we used the internet to watch movies in the evening, and the pool was right down the steps if we needed a dip. We used Lissa's suggestions for getting through the airport, changing money, hiring a driver, stopping at Mega on the way, how to tip, where to eat, and on and on. Our daughter proclaimed this the best vacation ever. Thank you Lissa. We hope to return!

Fantastic!!!
This place had everything. It was very well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed, even a blender for pina coladas. The beds were very comfortable. The pool was great. It was very clean. Lissa ,the host, was super accommodating and very knowledgeable about the area. She has great contacts too. It is only a few feet from the beach and only a 10minute walk to town. La Penita is absolutely fantastic too. We will stay at this place again

November Retreat
My wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks in November. The kitchen was very well appointed. The large beautiful covered terrace gave us lots of privacy and we spent lots of time eating our meals on it and enjoying our morning coffee. The pool had plenty of furniture around for all guests and the size of the pool we felt was perfect. Loved the tile tortuga on the bottom especially. Location to the beach was less than a minute. The beach was great, sat there and watched local fishermen at work. We walked all the way to the Royal Decameron several times with no problems, once to Los Oyolos and back. If you are adventurous and enjoy walking around, this was a perfect location to start from. Everyone was very friendly with us. We had small issue with our accommodations upon our arrival and the owner had it fixed immediately. We went out for dinner and when we came back it was fixed. The owner was very helpful in all things, where to eat, where to visit, what was happening in town. We enjoyed ourselves immensely

Estancia tranquila
Acabamos de ir a pasar unos días mi familia y yo en este lugar y nos pareció muy bueno. El departamento cuenta con las instalaciones que describe: la cocina está equipada con los utensilios necesarios, hay TV, Wi-Fi y DVD. La alberca muy limpia y confortable. La ubicación está ideal para ir a la playa la cual es muy tranquila. Hay varias playas cercanas a las cuales te puedes desplazar en carro y llegas rápido. Cerca del departamento hay una pizzería muy buena llamada "La Vitola". Uno de los paseos que mas nos gustó fué la visita a la playa del Coral donde puedes esnorquelear, pero por favor, cuida el coral y la playa para conservar su increíble belleza. Lissa te agradecemos tu ayuda y disponibilidad en todo momento!

Small town. Mexican vibe, half block from beach, 10 minute walk into La Penita centro
We loved the neighbourhood, the easy walk into town, to the weekly artisans’ market, to our favourite restaurants, and when properly timed, relaxing in beach chairs (provided by the landlord) to take in the amazing sunsets.
A well equipped kitchen, including large fridge and stove, modern, if small bathroom, and plenty of excellent quality towels, including beach towels, made for a very comfortable three month stay. We also found invaluable Lissa’s well organized And informative binder which covered just about anything you need to know about the area and what it has to offer. And last but not least, any request was promptly and graciously dealt with. Thank you, Lissa.

Hidden Gem
We can’t say enough about Casa de Sonrisas! This was our second time staying here and we are booked again for next year. The casa is lovely, well equipped with everything one would need! We enjoyed the courtyard with a lovely saltwater pool and loungers. The location is perfect, close walking distance to the beach and to town. La Penita has everything to offer, fabulous restaurants, grocery stores, bakery and butcher shops! If you want to truly experience Mexico living, Casa Sonrisas is located on a Mexican residential street where chickens, roosters and dogs roam freely, we loved it! The owner Lissa is always more than accommodating and very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas if you want to be adventurous! Thank you Lissa for another great vacation in your Casa!

Wonderful stay
This was my first stay here and to Mexico. It was amazing. I absolutely loved the drive from the airport to Casa Pacifico. I was amazed at the beautiful garden area by pool side. We stayed in the casita which offered a full kitchen, large bathroom, living/ dining area, and two bedrooms.The unit was clean and furnished with local mexican flare. The owner was very helpful in offering suggestions for area attractions, markets, beaches to visit, and places to eat. One of the best things about casa pacifico is its short walk to the quiet beach. And when I say quiet....it is. There are no vendors always trying to sell you something. Many times when we were there we were the only people on the beach. Wonderful beach to swim or just look out at the ocean. Casa Pacifico is located in a local neighborhood. So you will hear kids playing at the school, chickens, and the waves rolling in. It is also a short walk into town via the streets or the beach. La Penita offers a bank, several grocery markets, restaurants, street taco vendors, and stores. I highly recommend Tiki's restaurant which overlooks the beach. Great food and view. I truely enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful Casita close to the beach
This casita was perfect for us. Decorated with a Mexican vibe, excellently stocked kitchen and a large private balcony. The owner was great, very helpful, she even took us to Los de Marcos one night to release baby turtles. The casita is located directly across from a school, so when school is in you hear the kids playing but when school was out it was very quiet. Loved La Penita, a quiet little town that lets you feel like your in Mexico (in contrast to resorts which are like home just warmer). A variety of restaurants near by. Highly recommend La Vitola (wood fired pizza) and almost every taco stand on the street. This is a quiet town, when we were on the beach, we were often the only ones on the beach! Not a huge night life but we did see life music twice during our 1 week stay. We will be going back!

Great Place We will Be Back
We could hear the ocean surf on the veranda it is a short walk to the beach. All the amenities are close by only a 5-10 minute walk. Not a lot of tourists. Off the beaten path. Very comfortable place to spend some time roomy.

The beach is 100 steps away. The main street in town is a 5-10 minute walk depending on whether you like to wander through the neighborhood or stroll along the beach. Many activities await you: beach time, hiking, turtle camps, ruins, volcanoes, petroglyphs, hot springs, jungle and mangroves, Huichol villages, local markets and artisans, snorkeling and other water sports - so much to see and do! You will be staying in a lovely neighborhood with local businesses and families.
Getting around
Walking within La Peñita is easy. I am 5 blocks to el centro through town or a quick 5 minute walk along the beach. There you can find anything you will need during your stay - banks, shops, groceries, restaurants, bars. If you want to visit a nearby town, attraction or beach, taxis are plentiful and inexpensive. Many of my guests stay for several months and walk or take taxis. Others want to venture farther afield so they rent a car, or schedule an outing with many of the available tour guides. The choice is yours, depending on your plans.
