5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

In April we were for the second time in "Le due volpi" and I would recommend it again to anyone who has the desire for a few days in the countryside, searching for accommodation that is peaceful, quiet and beautifully authentic. The dinner Heidi cooked was fantastic as always. Spontaneously, she cooked us a three-course menu. The warmth and charm...

We had six wonderful weeks on holiday in Italy, but the week we had at Le Due Volpi is the highlight. Our flatette was comfortable and spacious. The surrounding gardens delightful, and so typical of Tuscany. In the evenings we enjoyed nibbles and drinks on the terrace discussing our adventures with the other guests as the sun went down. About the neighbourhood
Little towns like Scarperia, Vicchio and Dicomano and the capital of the Mugello, Borgo San Lorenzo are well worth visiting, for their simple and genuine appearance. The climate is several degrees cooler than Florence, and even in the height of summer one wears a wrap or lightweight jacket in the evening. Every day there is a local market in one of the towns, and for shopping lovers, the newly built Barberino outlet is well worth a visit. Lake Bilancino offers bathing and wind surfing possibilities, and the nearby Poggio ai Medici golf course is one of Europe's best. Horse back riding is a favourite sport in the Mugello and there are plenty of opportunities for horse lovers, including a new ly tracked excursions on horseback.
