Situated in the seaside town of Conil de la Frontera, on Andalusia's Costa de la Luz, the house is in a well-maintained modern gated complex, with a large communal swimming pool and padel tennis court. The beautiful endless beaches of the Costa de la Luz are 1 km from the house. The house is well-equipped, with a light and airy feel to it. All the bedrooms are a decent size, with the master having an en-suite bathroom. In addition to this, there is the main bathroom, while downstairs there is an additional WC with shower. The main living and dining area seats 8 comfortably at a large table situated at one side, while the other has comfortable sofas and the TV. This room leads onto the patio, where there is outdoor furniture to allow guests to eat outside in the cool of the evening, or just relax in the sun. In October 2015, an extensive pergola was built over the patio, with sunshade. This greatly enhances the outdoor space, and allows plenty of shade to relax under during the hottest part of the day. Large enough to accommodate a couple of families, or a group of friends, this is a genuine 8 person property, so you won't feel cramped, and there won't be any arguments about who's sleeping in a converted cupboard! The house is cool and comfortable even during the high summer, as the complex sits on a small hill, allowing breezes to prevent the closeness and humidity which properties in other more built-up areas nearby suffer from. The communal swimming pool is 50m from the house. There is a large supermarket less than 10 minutes walk away, where you can by everything you will need for your stay. It has an extensive fresh fish counter (most caught locally), a butcher's counter, a bakery, and everything else you would expect, whether you are entering Masterchef, or just want fresh bread and coffee. The centre of Conil is about 1 km away, a 15 minute walk through the town's vibrant little streets, studded with bars and restaurants all the way. In the centre itself, there is a wide variety of places to eat , drink and shop, with new ones opening up all the time. The town square has been totally renovated, and during the summer evenings, throngs with mostly Spanish families, enjoying the street entertainment, shops and hostelries. No one goes to bed before midnight here! Indeed, the town's clubs only open their doors around midnight. However, Conil is no Magaluf; it is busy and buzzing during July and August, but remains a safe, friendly and hospitable place to holiday at any time of the day, with families very much to the fore. It is particularly popular with the Spanish, who escape the sweltering summer heat in Madrid and Seville to holiday in Conil. The Costa de la Luz is famed for its beaches, and they don't disappoint. Clean, well looked after, and extending for mile after mile, you won't tire of them. Hugely popular with surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers, the water is still very safe, with a very gentle slope into the deeper water at both high and low tides, and no dangerous currents close to shore. Escape the midday heat by lunching at one of the numerous beach bars and restaurants (chiringuitos), where you can eat fish caught that morning while enjoying an ice cold beer or glass of the local white wine. The Spanish stay on the beach until sunset, which is a magnificent spectacle, the sun sliding inexorably below the Atlantic's horizon in the pin sharp light. But there is much, much more to do than visit these spectacular beaches. For the active, you can learn to surf, or kitesurf, or windsurf. 10 km from Conil, Chiclana has a water sports centre where you can hire 2, 3 or 4 man canoes, paddle boards, pedaloes - and even small sailing boats if you know what you're doing. An hour's drive will take you into the sierras, which are all national park. Whatever type of walking you want to do, from a gentle stroll to something challenging, these mountains can provide it. The wildlife is extraordinary as well - eagles, huge buzzards and vultures. You're also close to some very significant and historic cities; Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe, built at the end of a narrow isthmus, Jerez, crucible of sherry - take a tour of one of the bodegas - or Seville, the home of bullfighting and flamenco. If you like your holiday to be busy and active - a search for new experiences, a chance to absorb the local culture, sample local cuisine, visit art galleries and museums, investigate the area's history, sport, architecture - then this part of Spain can meet every one of those expectations. Or you can sit on these superb beaches all day, before returning to Casa Helen, freshening up and enjoying a drink on the patio in the evening warmth before the short walk into Conil for a meal. Outside high season, the climate in this part of Spain is fairly benign all year round. It is normal to still be able to sit on the beach all day - and go swimming - in late October. The area has the highest number of hours of sunshine in Europe. While the weather can get quite stormy during January and February, the next day is likely to be pleasant enough to sit outside a bar and sip a cafe con leche. Many of the shops and restaurants will close between November and March, but there are still plenty open. In short, this is a place you can visit all year round, and have a great break in a lovely house. Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: VFT/CA/01671More

About the neighbourhood
Conil de la Frontera is a pueblo blanco (white town) on the Costa de la Luz. The area has only in the last 10 years become known as a holiday destination to tourist outside Spain. As such, it has never been exposed to the over-development and commercialisation which the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca suffer from. The town is very popular with the Spanish, families travelling from Madrid and Seville to escape the searing interior summer heat. The beaches, while very good for water sports, are extremely safe and well-maintained, typically remaining very shallow at both high and low tides, with no dangerous currents near the shore. As such, the area is popular for those with young families. Conil itself is a busy little town during the summer, with numerous bars and restaurants to cater fo...
