Welcome to Le Cambremont, our typically French four bedroomed house in Le Neufbourg about 3 kms from the picturesque town of Mortain (as featured in Al Murray's “Road to Berlin”) in the glorious countryside of Normandy, France.

The house is well equipped with a large living/dining room incorporating a wood burner with traditional wood beams, with seating for up to 8 people with a dining table and chairs. The fully equipped kitchen houses a gas hob, an under counter mounted electric oven, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, microwave, and fridge along with a table and chairs. The utility room has an automatic washing machine, fridge freezer plus an iron and ironing board and has plenty of extra storage. Off the kitchen there is access to the downstairs shower room and a separate toilet and access to the 2 garages.

We booked a 16 night stay here most of which was as a couple with our 2 dogs,but joined for a few days by our son and daughter, their spouses and two grand daughters. The house is certainly spacious enough to swallow all this tribe so no-one felt cramped. I cooked for all on 2 nights and apart from blunt knives the kitchen was well enough equipped to produce a large meal. Everyone was happy with the comfort of the beds, and bathrooms which along with the linen seemed all very new.

The owners are very generous with things like toilet rolls, soap and dishwasher tabs so there is no real need to bring or source your own and a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge was a welcoming touch and in general the house is very well equipped for all ages.

Decor and furnishings are a little old fashioned but in good order generally but if you have a need for privacy you may find this a problem. The house is on a very quiet cul de sac with only a little traffic but the front door...

Mortain: A delightful setting with superb views. The town featured a strategic battle during WW 2. Mortain is approx. 1 hr from the D-Day beaches. The Chapel of Saint Michael (Le Petite Chapel) is located on top of the hill and from there on a clear day you can see right across to Mont St. Michel. Wonderful well organised hiking and cycling trails, (Green lanes, old railway lines running to Domfront and Mont St Michel. Ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding etc, are within walking distance of the house). There is Golf nearby and Rock climbing near the Cascade. Collegiate of Saint Evroult founded in 1082 by count Robert of Mortain, and Abbaye Blanche (featuring art and sculpture exhibitions by regional and local artists), only 5 minutes drive from Bellefontaine Country Park.
