Bagnères-de-Bigorre is a charming old spa town in the Pyrénées. Long visited by the French, it sees few foreign visitors. Perhaps this is why the locals are so friendly!<BR><BR>Our apartment is in the heart of the old town yet is in a beautiful and peaceful location which includes a shared but private courtyard garden. It is on the first and second floors of an old converted hotel and is accessible via a spiral staircase. <BR><BR>On the first floor there is an open plan living room including a well-equipped kitchen. The living room opens onto a balcony which overlooks the courtyard. There is a separate utility room containing a washing machine and dryer. Our stay here was excellent, spending 10 nights at Le Bach. The apartment was better than we expected and all we needed. It is in close proximity to all the facilities in Bagneres, but is really quiet and peaceful, set in it's own courtyard. The facilities were excellent and the booking and meet and greet were really easy for us...

Bagnères-de-Bigorre is a spa town and a visit to the thermal spa with roof top jacuzzis and sun deck is highly recommended.<BR><BR>Shopping - As well as supermarkets, there are all sorts of speciality shops in town. Or you can go further afield. Pau (60 kilometres away) and Tarbes (17 kilometres away) are both excellent places to visit and to shop. And if you’re in Bagnères-de-Bigorre on a Saturday you must meander down to the marvellous market.<BR><BR>Eating and Drinking - Well what can we say? This is France and Bagnères-de-Bigorre abounds with restaurants, great cafés and bars. There’s an excellent pizzeria with a very friendly owner just across the road from the apartment.

Railway: Tarbes: 21.0 km
By Car<BR>We are just over 10 hours drive from Calais. To cross the Channel there is a choice of car ferry (click on www.poferries.com or www.seafrance.com) or the Eurotunnel (www.eurotunnel1.com ).<BR><BR>You can also get to Dunkerque (10 hours and 20 minutes drive to Bagenerès de Bigorre) from Dover. Look at www.hoverspeed.com <BR><BR>Car ferries go to Caen, Cherbourg or St Malo from Portsmouth. Cherbourg is also accessible from Poole and Roscoff from Plymouth. The car journey to Bagnerès de Bigorre from Caen takes just over 9 hours, from Cherbourg just over 10 hours, from St Malo 8 1/2 hours and from Roscoff just over 10 hours.
