The Old School House, Pujol
If you love France, good food, excellent wines, street markets, romantic restaurants, lovely walks, visiting vineyards, relaxing by a pool, fresh baguettes, the smell of fresh coffee in the mornings this place is for you. You are walking into a piece of history when you arrive at the old school house. It has all the modern amenities, fully equipped kitchen with all the pots and pans you need including the very important coffee pot. The rooms are charming and with the high ceilings the house feels spacious. Everything was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. The swimming pool is definitely the ‘icing on the cake’ . Totally private with plenty seating/ loungers. A BBQ for those wanting to eat outside. This has been our second visit to the Old School House to celebrate my birthday and is now a regular holiday destination for us. Thank you Laurence for all your advice on places to visit and restaurant recommendations.

Not our first trip, not our last! AMAZING!
We visited Old Schoolhouse last year and loved it so much that we decided to come back again this year. There’s something so special about the space Laurence & Morag have created. It’s authentic, big, interesting and with a pool and canopy area. The windows perfectly frame the sunset every night. It’s truly a magical space. We decided to come again with our 9 month old baby to the area. We love the proximity to Bordeaux and of course St Emillion and other interesting wine areas. I’m certain we will come back again! & the medieval church literally next door makes every day when you walk outside for the first time so spectacular.

Wine tour
Fabulous place to stay very comfortable beds and the outside seating area is where we spent each evening. We liked this part of the property so much we are going to create something similar at home. Ideally placed for visiting St Emilion and Bergerac. Food in the area was fantastic did not have a bad meal. The wine bar/tea room at Chateau Carbonneau is a must visit.

Perfect relaxing holiday
We've just returned from spending a week at The Old School House and had an incredible time The house itself is beautiful and full of character. We were a group of 6 friends and had more than enough space and the house is comfortably big enough for a larger group. It's perfectly equipped for a stay with three large, modern bathrooms and a modern kitchen with all the utensils you could ever need. The outdoor space & pool (where we spent most of our time) are the perfect place for outdoor dining and relaxing. There's a decent size BBQ which we made use of and 4 bikes which are handy for cycling around the local area. There's also a very spacious lounge with big sofas, a dining table and TV but we didn't have the need to use this thanks to the perfect weather. One thing to note is that some parts of the house could be seen as a little bit 'tired' but I think it's as to be expected for an older property like this and adds to the charm. The house is perfectly positioned in the village of Pujols a d you're treated to stunning views of the surrounding area from all parts of the house. The village 'square' is a 3-5 minute walk away where you can find a well stocked village shop and the local restaurant Chez Sylvie which seemed to be open from 12-4 each day and was great for lunch (recommend booking). The house is surrounded by vineyards and there are a couple of chateaux within a short walking distance where you can go and sample the local wines. You also have the church just outside and the castle just at the top of the hill which are worth taking a look at. The surrounding area has plenty of good restaurants dotted around lots of Vineyards/Chateaux to visit and a good Bakery in one of the nearby villages. Castillon-la-bataille is the closest town at about 6km away and has two good supermarkets, lots of restaurants and a Train station. In addition to all the above, there's plenty of things around to keep everyone entertained. For example we went kayaking on the Dordogne. There's also a lake close by with an inflatable 'aqua park' and the famous St. Emilion is easy to reach by road or by train and we'll worth a visit. Laurence was a brilliant host and was easy to contact at anytime and left a comprehensive list of tips for your stay in the house and recommendations for the local area. In short, The Old School House is the perfect place for a relaxing get away and it's safe to say we will be looking to return!

Wonderful stay in beautiful surroundings
We had a wonderful week in the "old school house" in Pujols in August 2022, with a total of 8 people. The location and the view of the very beautifully and lavishly renovated building is breathtaking - you can see endlessly into the plain of the Bordelais. The house is very well and tastefully furnished and the bathrooms are modern. The large, covered terrace was our main place of stay during the day, from where you can quickly reach the pool or the kitchen. The hosts had everything well prepared and were always available if there were any questions or requests. An absolutely recommendable place!

Fabulous Stay
The Old School House is a perfect place to stay to enjoy the beautiful countryside of St Emilion and the nearby Dordogne. The accommodation comprises many bedrooms large kitchen and lounges and a fantastic swimming pool to cool down in an afternoon and a steading to enjoy food in the evening over a glass of wine! There are plenty of beautiful restaurants, and patisseries and the large supermarket in the next village is very well stocked and plenty of choice. I would thoroughly recommend the Old School House for families as plenty to see and do in the area, unfortunately just didn't have enough time to enjoy it all. Looking forward to going back.

Glorious Property!
Wow what can I say the Old School House is fabulous, an historic building with many original features and lovingly renovated to create the perfect family home with all modern amenities whilst retaining that French chic! The bedrooms are all light and airy and I loved the shutters…my room overlooked the beautiful private courtyard with great pool, al fresco dining area and my favourite little spot overlooking the countryside with sunsets that are just awesome! There is so much to do with Saint Emillion only a 10 minute drive, we made use of the e bikes at the house and had such a great day cycled to Saint Emillion, wandered around this beautiful little town with cute little shops, cafes and Bistros and of course the wineries and wine shops there are many and of course the wines are superb as is the food and the leisurely time spent eating and drinking before heading back on the bikes to enjoy more of this wonderful house! Try canoeing on the Dorgdoyne too! But leave time to soak up the rays and enjoy the privacy and ambience of the Old School House…can’t recommend enough it a must…I will definitely be back soon…enjoy!
