Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Excellent accommodation and location
Easy access from Ardenia to the Moors and the Dales where there is something for every taste. Dave and Wendy are excellent hosts. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. The great feature, of course, is the conservatory where you can relax whatever the weather and enjoy reading or simply admiring the beautiful garden. The picturesque town of Yarm is nearby where you can find lots of interesting shops and a large selection of restaurants - we can highly recommend Santoro on the high street where the atmosphere and food are authentically Italian.

Excellent accomodation in peaceful village - with easy access to market towns and Yorkshire Moors
Well equipped property - with thoughtful welcome pack. We visited in December but had a lovely sun room and outdoor seating which will be lovely in summer. Close proximity to A19. Ideal situation for the coast, moors, Harrogate, York, Beamish, Durham..... Highly recommended for anyone who wants a good base to explore these areas

Fabulous with just one thing .....
This cottage has everything - beautiful views, well equipped, spacious, spotlessly clean, fantastically comfortable bed, really good shower, lovely friendly helpful hosts so I really hate to mention this one thing but here goes - I think the sofa in the lounge let's it down. It needs renewing as the present is rather uncomfortable to relax on as it tends to swallow you as when we both sat on it we tended to roll together in the middle. Just my opinion. But otherwise first class.

Excellent Escape to the Country
Located in the very quiet village of Appleton Wiske, my wife and I stayed here for 8 weeks from 6th January 2018 and during the "Beast from The East" Siberian storm that inundated the UK. The cottage was exceptionally warm and cosy and Wendy and Dave are very friendly and accommodating. Their Back garden is a haven for Birds and Animals, which my wife enjoyed immensely, photographing them and I think talking to them :-) We had a couple of squirrels, rabbits, pheasants and Wendy has a horse and two sheep, one that had 5 legs at birth! If you want peace and quiet than this is the place. A definite Escape to the Country in a lovely part of North Yorkshire with Northallerton village a short drive. Two COUNTRY pubs located within easy walk.

Perfect accommodation, perfect hosts, perfect break.
Ardenia certainly lived up to the 5 star ratings from previous guests. Spacious, very comfortable, and a wonderful super-king sized bed. Great walking and plenty of award winning pubs and restaurants within a short distance, we had a wonderful experience even though it was mid October. Without doubt when we return to North Yorkshire, we will be staying at Ardenia. Thank you David & Wendy.

Clean and spacious.
One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. Exceptionally clean and lots of room, large bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. In a good location for the moors and the coast was within an hours drive. Lots to do nearby, Camp Eden (modern history theme museum) about an hour away ( well worth a visit!!). Lots of information in the cottage for places to visit, you won't be bored. Some lovely walks from Osmotherly in the Yorkshire Moors for the energetic. Lots of pubs to choose from and a quality breakfast at Roots just down the road. Wendy and Dave couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and although next door they were not intrusive. We will definitely be returning.
