My partner and myself were truly delighted with Elder Cottage, situated in the village of Mickleton . On arrival we were impressed with the standard of cleanliness and the generous welcome provisions provided by the owner. The rooms in the cottage are cosy , nicely furnished and had all we needed for our stay . The garden is very secluded and a lovely place to sit after a busy day. A couple of minutes walk away is the Kings Arms , a very nice pub with large gardens serving a good choice of well prepared food . A 10 min walk away is the Butchers Arms which is very much a local , friendly pub serving a limited range but substantial portions of pub food. A local post office has now closed down although there is a village shop with most things you might need . Also in the village is “The Pudding Club” at at The Halfway House but we chose not to visit this. There is much to visit and see in the area ....Bourton on Water is about a 25 min drive away . It is very popular and one should be aware that parking can be difficult . I would advise using the sports ground at £5 a day rather than the council run park which suffers from poorly functioning payment machines and toilets at a further £ 3 to use. Just strolling around Bourton is very pleasant and I would recommend visiting the Motor Museum and Birdland . There are far too many pretty villages and gardens to visit in the Cotswolds to mention here but it’s worth highlighting wonderful Hidcote gardens which are very near Mickleton. Close by again is Broadway , a very upmarket village and also Chipping Campden . Moreton In Marsh has a Tuesday street market and a nice , lively atmosphere . Winchcombe is nice little place with many small shops and cafes ....we wanted to see the “Winchcombe Meteorite “ In the local Museum but bizarrely it closes at 1 pm on weekdays . I can unreservedly recommend a stay at Elder Cottage .... you won’t be disappointed !!

And relax...wishing I'd booked the week
Such a beautiful place on the cotswold map that you will be able to create whatever break you want. As a first official self catering holiday I'd booked in the uk I did wonder if i would feel the same holiday relax...well I need not have had concern I felt more escapism from normal life than other breaks. I feel that the cottage wrapped me up in its arms and indulged me in a lifestyle that i existed in for the time i was there, it just felt like home. Highlights were looking out onto a gorgeous courtyard garden from the kitchen window, a huge bedroom infact the layout is great for such a dot and beauty of a cottage is great, parking is easy, the location simple to find and get back to wherever your days out take you and of course being a 5min walk to the world famous pudding club is a bonus (and I suggest the trio but share it unless you don't have dinner and have a massive sweet tooth.) Overall I hadn't expected such a memorable holiday and the fact that even a month on when it enters my mind that it brings inner happiness and calm to the intensity of normal life rather than that sense of desperation of having had a holiday and it feeling in the distant past two days back to normality i think says alot about this holiday spot and I can only hope elder cottage offers you the same warmth and wonderful holiday I had and the continued escapism through your own memories that you create there.

Excellent base for a cotswold adventure
We had a lovely couples stay here. The house has free WiFi and freeview, it's had all expected amenities and the local shop is very close. It was very clean and it homed us well for the week. The owner made it very easy for us to turn up and check out, no hassle. Would recommend to friends and family. We managed to go to hook Norton brewery, the Cotswold distillery, the roll right stones, Stow on the wold, Sudeley castle and the Broadway Tower. Make sure you go to these great places if you have not been! Will be back soon!

Cosy, well equipped, centrally located cottage.
We recently stayed at Elder Cottage & what a lovely few days they were. The cottage is cosy, clean, tastefully decorated & very homely.
Village shop literally around the corner, lovely village butchers & fantastic pub that serve delicious meals, just across the road.
There is a lovely garden with various trees & shrubs, local squirrel visits also, very peaceful setting.
Hidcote Manor is just a mile away, well worth a visit, as is Bourton-on-the-water & Broadway, lovely Cotswold villages.
Thank you David for the extras left for us,we didn't need to get supplies in as there was so much left for us to enjoy our stay even more.
We hope to return again soon.

A lovely stay in a lovely cottage
The cottage is clean, comfortable with a lovely cosy bed. There were plenty of utensils, pots and pans etc if you need to cook anything. There is a small private garden and parking space right outside the door. It is ideal for touring the Cotswolds. The local pubs are friendly and welcoming. Would recommend The Kings Head just across the road, good for food, drinks, wifi and a log fire.
Loved coming back to the cottage after days out and about.

Peaceful Break
This cottage is in the middle of the village, but you would not know it as it is so quite. We have stayed here before when owned by Mrs Stone. I am pleased to say that Mr Edwards has maintained the same high standard as she set. We will be looking to book it again early in the new year..
