We stayed at Jasmin Cottage back at the end of July/start of August and spent a very enjoyable week there. The location is superb for exploring the Alpujarras and Tina's advice about places to visit was really helpful. We walked up Pico de Veleta and trekked with Caballo Blanco, which was the absolute highlight of our stay - my daughter...

Management response:

Re the heat: the important thing to do at night is to open the windows so the air can circulate - the widndws have mosquito nets. During the day close the windows and curtains to keep the heat out. The patio central to both bedrooms is shaded by a fully leafed grapevine. This normally keeps both bedrooms cool.

Tina's cottage was perfect, with a great pool, amazing sunsets and with great restaurants in Orgiva. With my two teenage boys I thought it might be a challenge but it was a really...

Management response:

Sarah had hoped her boys would have chance to practice their Spanish - and they certainly did! It was great for me to see them having suck a super family holiday.

About the neighbourhood
Orgiva is a genuine Spanish market town with good restaurants; supermarkets; ATMs; a Medical Centre with full accident and emergency services. Despite having all modern facilities the area can still be described as 'real Spain'. Orgiva dates back several thousand years and was mentioned in Ptolemy as the Greek colony of Exoche. During the Nasrid dynasty it was known as Albastch, which meant flat and then for several centuries it was known as Albacete de Orgiva. In 1492 Boabdil, the deposed King of Granada retreated here under the decree of Ferdinand and Isabella, but during the Moorish uprising the town was the scene of hard-fought battles with the Torre de la Casa Palacio de los Condes de Sastago defending the town. This ancient building was restored some years ago and it is... more
