Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved the cottage, so fresh and clean.
Had one weeks stay at Rowan Cottage. Its in a great area, quite and rural, yet near enough to small towns and villages, very peaceful. The cottage itself has been updated to a high spec. but it still has the traditional old world cottage feel. The owners have carefully chosen furnishings etc. to suit the property. We were surprised by a lovely welcome pack on our arrival and the owners gave us a personal welcome as well. Lovely cottage, so fresh and clean. Thanks to the owners. We loved the place and had a great stay

Lovely cottage in a lovely part of the world
Really good! The Beale family were very kind and accommodating, the cottage had everything you could want, and there was a generous welcome pack on arrival. I particularly enjoyed the open fire and that rare thing, an electric oven that did not dry meat up in the cooking. Add a lovely view from the master bedroom, absolute peace and quiet and the delights of Nidderdale, and this place is hard to beat.

Gorgeous!
We have enjoyed a lovely few days in this gorgeous cottage. We love everything about it and have wanted for nothing; it has been a great base to explore the local area. Cosy, clean and comfortable, it was a struggle to get out of the beds they are SO fabulous!! When we did, we enjoyed walking and sampling the local beer - really recommend the Black Sheep Brewery tour. Thank you so much to the Beale family for really caring about us as guests; the welcome pack was just the best! What an absolute pleasure it has been to stay in your lovely cottage.

Ideal cottage & location to explore
Very well equipped cottage, every gadget you could possibly need & a homely comfort. Secure garage to store bikes & off road parking. On the nicer evenings took advantage of sitting out front with a glass of wine & a book, on a wet & windy day lit the fire & curled up on the sofa. Explored locally on bike & foot then further afield to Nidderdale & Hawes by car. Plenty of places to visit, nearby Masham has some nice places to eat & not too touristy. Can walk to the Black Swan in Fearby for a drink, food available but I can't comment on it as poor veggie choice so we didn't eat there. Altogether a very relaxing holiday. The owners live next door so in the unlikely event that you need anything you know you can call on them but they generally keep to themselves other than making sure you're ok. Lovely welcome basket with basics & some tasty biscuits on arrival

Lovely well furnished and kitted out cottage. Clean and comfortable to use as a weekend base to explore the area. Very thoughtful welcome pack left for us by the owners including delicious homemade biscuits. Walks from the cottage around the area including into nearby Masham. Warm welcome at Rowan Cottage
A warm welcome and basket of goodies set the tone for our short stay at the Rowan Cottage. The house was very comfortable, clean and well laid out. Obviously a lot of thought had gone into providing visitors with every convenience. The cottage was situated just outside Masham where we found local inhabitants friendly especially at the information centre with good advice for local dog friendly walks. Not far away is Jervaux Abbey, a ruin but well worth the visit, Middleham Castle where you can climb the walls and watch horses being trained and also Leyburn with its shops and cafes. More than enough for a three day break. We would recommend this cottage and its friendly owners.
