Luxury self catering accommodation within Carman Hill House formerly known as the Carman Waterworks. The owners John and Susan live in the old waterworks part of the house and have converted a wing, the former testing station. Ideally suited for two to six people. Set in rural surroundings, situated on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park it is an ideal base for touring. 5 minutes drive to the shores of Loch Lomond, 10 minutes drive to Helensburgh and 20 minutes from Glasgow Airport. Perfectly located for nearby outdoor activities include fishing, horse riding, hill walking and golf.

Just back from a five day stay at this fantastic accommodation. The house was very comfortable with every home comfort on hand. Susan was the ideal host and very welcoming and helpful. Renton is a great location for touring around. Beautiful scenery and points of interest within easy driving distance. The Trossachs, Loch Lomond and Stirling easily accessible. We will certainly return.

Wonderful host, wonderful property
Our family of 5 have just enjoyed a lovely 2 nights at Carman Hill House. The property is immaculate and so spacious. Susan is a lovely host, nothing too much trouble and she even helped us with ordering a take away! We cannot speak highly enough about the host or property.

Fabulous place with friendly owners
We stayed for 3 nights. The welcome pack was great and very gratefully received after an 81/2 hour journey. Ideally situated for all attractions around Loch Lomond. The view from the property is very understated and came as a pleasant surprise. Sue the owner is very friendly and helpful without being remotely intrusive. We felt totally comfortable in what was our home for the duration. Wonderful garden and we were lucky to have fantastic weather.

Excellent should be more than 5 star
Got this place for my wife's 60th birthday with my sister in law and brother in law
To say we got a surprise is a understatement
It is better than a 5star hotel the pictures don't do it justice
Its spotless its got plenty room
Two good size bedrooms
1 king-size
One double
Plus a few sofa beds if needed
It's beautifully decorated . nice to seeing the chickens and ducks
The beds are extremely comfortable the welcome pack was a nice touch Susan and John are extremely helpful nothing seems a problem
It's a very peaceful the view's are stunning this
Is one place we would definitely visit again and would highly recommend it thank you Susan and John for a very enjoyable weekend made to feel welcome and at ease

Quiet retreat, central base
A perfect place to meet our varied requirements for a week away.
Whether you want to walk, run, cycle or enjoy the cultural delights in Glasgow, Carman Hill House is the perfect base from which to do all of these. And if you just want a quiet retreat to read, you'll find the house very comfortable.
The house accommodates 4 comfortably, and more at a bit of a squeeze. The "welcome" basket with essentials provided by Sue and John is a lovely touch. And if you run out of (very fresh) eggs, all you have to do is ask. The friendly and welcoming owners, who live in the attached, main house, added to making it a most enjoyable week in Scotland.

Excellent Stay
A wonderful place to stay, all very clean and with lots of space The owners were really friendly at hand to answer any questions. The location was perfect as it was near Loch Lomond which was great for days out.

Loch Lomond Holiday
This place was great for our break to the bonnie banks of loch lomond. The accommodation had everything we needed and more. The kids loved running after and feeding the chickens and ducks. They even got to name the new cockerell Henry. Susan and John were great hosts, very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Perfect Christmas break with family
We needed somewhere in Central Scotland close to my daughter in Cardross so that other family members could come over and spend a few days over Christmas. It was the perfect solution with two large bedrooms and also two sofa beds to allow some flexibility as our family were all a bit vague about what dates they were available! The large open-plan kitchen and living/dining area meant that we could all gather while the cooking was going on and nobody felt excluded. The two little 3 year olds loved the space and the bedroom corridor for running up and down. The bathroom was spacious and there were plenty of towels. Bedrooms were very comfortable too.
The location was very peaceful up on the hill with views over the surrounding area. Even the December mist looked beautiful as we looked out. John and Susan were perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. I hope we can manage to return next year - very highly recommended!

Perfect place to explore the area around Loch Lomond and Glasgow
Our family of 4 (2 adults, a 4yr old and a 6yr old) stayed here to explore Loch Lomond and the area around Glasgow and we were very happy with our stay. The Carman Hill House is very clean, spacious and offers everything one needs for a stay with kids. The fully equipped kitchen, which also offered a washing machine, was great and even offered kids plates, cups and utensils. We also found a highchair (which we did not use). The owners Susan and John are super friendly and our kids had a great time feeding the chicken and ducks. Last but not least - you have a nice backyard for the kids to run around and an amazing view (we enjoyed the sunrise on the day of our departure). The breakfast basket on the day of our arrival was another nice touch.
