The garden is huge with a lovely pollarded Hornbeam which can provide entertainment for younger guests. Our kayak can be used to explore the river in the summer, there is also the option to hire kayaks locally. Fishing at the bottom of the garden is a must. Beautiful Malestroit: A fantastic location with all the amenities of a small medieval town yet the tranquillity of a riverside setting with large garden. A wonderful spot to explore Brittany from or just simply relax. Fishing, cycling, walking: Try your hand at fishing from the riverbank at the bottom of the garden or go for a cycle or walk along the canal and forest paths. This area is also superb for road cycling with plenty of challenging hills and sympathetic drivers!More

About the neighbourhood
Our location is perfect for both those who don't want to travel much as almost everything you need is within walking distance. Malestroit has a few bakeries, restaurants, butchers, supermarkets, doctors, pharmacies, tourist information etc. There are also free Friday night concerts during the summer and a traditional market on Thursday mornings with a smaller market on Saturday mornings. The Nantes/Brest canal runs through the town and offers plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling. Kayaks are available to hire locally for kayak tours on the river and canal. There are two small play areas for children in the area and a public swimming pool is due to open soon (tourist information office will be able to provide up to date details).
Getting around
If you are wanting to explore beyond Malestroit then a car is necessary. We are spoilt for choice with beautiful villages and cities and nature. Other medieval villages in the area worth a visit are Josselin, Rochefort-en-Terre and La Gacilly which hosts an annual photography exhibition in the summer. The walled city of Vannes is a 20 minute drive away. The closest beaches are around 45 minutes away. Our favourite is les sables blanc en route to Quiberon which is also worth a visit. Ploërmel (10 minutes drive) offers a golf course and lake where sailing and other watersports are on offer
