Holiday Rental House
Le Stalle is a beautifully converted 18c stone farmhouse with 250 m of comfortable living space, tastefully decorated without being top precious! It's an ideal location for families and groups of friends wanting to spend a relaxing holiday together in the peaceful, achingly beautiful Umbrian hills. Downstairs the large open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room are separated by two original stone arches. The kitchen is fully equipped for large groups and for those who enjoy sharing the cooking tasks. The dining table seats up to 10 as does the sitting room. There's an additional spacious sitting room- well stocked library and guest bathroom with shower. Upstairs a corridor runs the length of the house connecting the 5 ensuite bedrooms. Three French windows open up to a wide outdoor terrace which faces the forest behind giving the sensation of immediate connection with nature. The farmhouse has two open fireplaces and a further cast iron wood- burning stove in the library and central heating for winter. Outdoors: there are spacious terraces for sitting and dining and enjoying the view of the terraced garden and valley beyond. The large swimming pool (14x7m)is a good-sized exercise pool. The surrounding area is paved with ample space for sun beds and lounging areas. Nature abounds: from the stunning wild-style terraced garden set out on four terraces with a treasure of herbs, mediterranean xeriscape plants, fragrant climbing roses and jasmine, plus lots of other bee and butterfly friendly plants. The combination of planned, cultivated and wild plants combine to create a natural habitat that offers birdwatchers and other naturalists the opportunity to delight in the wildlife, flora and fauna of the region. The immediate vicinity is a great place for walking, discovering wild flowers and foraging for the seasonal culinary delights on offer: mushrooms, wild asparagus, 'cicoria', blackberries and wild garlic. We are off the beaten track, nestled in a valley that backs onto protected forestland yet we are also close to the medieval town of Amelia and many other famous hillside towns, with the unique artistic features and culinary specialties they offer. The surrounding countryside makes for great walking, touring and exploring. Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: part.IVA 00566250551More

About the neighbourhood
The property backs onto several kilometres of undisturbed woodland, with views over the stunning verdant valleys that central Italy, and Umbria in particular, are well known for. It's a great place for walking. Macchie is our rural village that sits a kilometre away on the hill above Poggio Le Stalle. It has a population of around 420 people and is said to have been a stopping point for Frederic Barbarossa when passing through on his way to Rome. Its centuries old industry was charcoal. Our local town ,Amelia ,is an Etruscan town said to have been founded around the 12th century BC, and boasts stunning cyclopean walls that predate Rome itself.
Getting around
Our area and surrounds is dotted with a vast array of Umbrian hillside villages and towns, each boasting something special and often unique. The best way to enjoy this is by car.
