Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Lovely lodge, relaxing break.
Very comfortable stay in a lovely lodge (Oswin) Completely new to the hot tub experience but am now a complete convert. Manager Craig couldn't be more helpful. Location handy for so many places. Enjoyed Beamish and Hadrian's wall. Would definitely return.

Amazing lodge, relaxing break
Me and my husband stayed here for a week, we was amazed when we walked it, the lodge was beautiful well equipped, cozy and comfortable. Table was set with a nice complementary bottle of wine , such a nice touch. Smart tv so can log into Netflix, tv also in the other bedrooms. Log burner installed too makes it so cozy when relaxing. Local takeaways do deliver, we ate out a couple nights too at Sale Pepe and visited Jolly Drovers for Sunday lunch! We also walked to the Riverside bakery. The lodge is a great location for exploring. The sheltered hot tub was amazing and very private, just what was needed after a day out. Craig was very welcoming and was on hand if we needed anything but we didn’t. Overall a great stay and would definitely recommend, we will return , thank you.

Tranquil stay in the north east
Just had a lovely week at Vindomora country lodges. We stayed in Hadrian’s lodge. Very clean and well equipped, the bed was comfortable. We took our dog with us and had a lot of walks out and about with her. Went to Durham for the afternoon which was about 25 mins away. There’s loads of places on just eat that deliver to the lodges, so didn’t cook much! But the kitchen is well equipped if you wanted to with oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, coffee machine etc. Hot tub was private and clean and well looked after. The site itself was very quiet, we didn’t see or hear anyone else all week. Bonus! Craig the owner is very nice, nothing too much bother, very knowledgeable about local places to visit etc. if you visit with your dog there’s a walk just straight out the back into woodland near the river which is nice. There’s a couple of pubs but not really in walking distance unless you’re up for a couple of miles hike. But there is a Tesco extra in consett where you can stock up from and sitting in the hot tub with a wine seemed liked a better option! If you are after peace and quiet, relaxation and nice surroundings then this is the place to go. Good location for getting to Newcastle, Durham, Hadrian’s wall if you are wanting to explore. If not, go for nice country walks, stock up on essentials from consett supermarkets, get yourself in the hot tub (any weather) and chill! The TV you can sign into your Netflix account or whatever so cosy film nights are doable. I would say that it is advertised as dog friendly, but the lodge we stayed in wasn’t completely enclosed. Our dog wouldn’t have taken kindly to being shut in whilst we were outside in the hot tub! Not a problem for other dogs, but she isn’t used to being left on her own. So would take her bed and put it next to the hot tub for her, but had to keep an eye out that she didn’t wonder off! It’s not really an issue, if we go again I’d pick a lodge that was fully enclosed (if there’s one that’s dog friendly) so I wouldn’t have to worry about her whilst we were in the tub. My only suggestion for improvement on the feedback form was to maybe think of ways to make it dog friendly if advertised as such, like providing dog bowls, treats, bed etc so you don’t have have to bring it all with you. But other than that it’s hard to think of anything else I would change when looking for a tranquil, relaxing break in the north east. I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Thank you for your review. We have 3 lodges that have enclosed gardens, the Arbeia, Oswin and Housesteads so guests can have their pets secure. We find most guests like to bring their own pet accessories but have a selection if guest forget some items. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you both again soon. Craig

Great holiday location
If you want a peaceful relaxing holiday in a clean well maintained lodge the look no further. I have taken my disabled wife here 4 times and it does her so much good it's like seeing a different person. There are walks suitable for wheel chair users a short drive away and the lodges are a great base to explore Northumberland and Durham. There is an Italian restaurant within 5 minutes drive called Santonios that I highly recommend. On site Craig is very helpful and will help you out with any problems you encounter. Also if you need any equipment for a disabled guest please contact Craig he deals with a company that is very reasonably priced compared to others I have looked at.

Ebba Lodge, just stunning
We both totally agree with all of the wonderful reviews left for these lodges. They are stunning and in a beautiful location. Craig allowed us to walk into Ebba Lodge first so we really got the wow factor. Which we did. It's so clean lovely and welcoming. It was our 35th wedding anniversary so we took time to choose somewhere we thought we'd enjoy and remember fondly. We're so glad we chose here. The team even went that little bit extra to leave a card and balloon which really meant a lot. Such a kind team of people and nothing is too much trouble. Simply gorgeous

Superb
Excellent lodge, well designed, thought out and equipped. Ideal location for exploring Hadrians wall, the North Pennines and cities such as Durham and Newcastle. The local Italian (Santonios) is well worth a visit. Thanks you to Craig and his team for making this a most pleasurable holiday.

Hidden gem
Stayed at theVindomora lodge with my partner ,daughter aged 16 and a small dog . The lodge was stunning it was everything I wanted it to be for our first holiday away. The lodge it’s self was well equipped with the added extras ,bathrobes ,washer and cleaning supplies. Craig who runs the place was extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and advised us on places to visit . You could see the pride Craig had to all the lodges and he also showed us other lodges as we are wanting to revisit again . To sum it up our experience and time at Vindomora Lodge was all positive and I would recommend it to my close family and friends. It’s a hidden secret.

Best Hot Tub Break Ever
The lodges are perfect, very spacious and very well equipped. So peaceful, could've spent the whole week staying in enjoying the garden, the views, watching the birds, stargazing (when it wasn't cloudy!) and of course the hot tub - not too hot but hot enough! A fantastic spot to explore the whole of Northumberland, just need to spend a full month here especially if you're into the Roman history. Then of course when you've covered that you're also in a great spot to explore County Durham which is also beautiful. We shall return.
