Horner Cottage is a self-contained one bedroomed holiday property in the rural village of Luccombe, nestled at the foot of Dunkery. Just 2 miles from the sea, and set within the beautiful grounds of an old Manor House Horner Cottage is well suited to couples looking for a peaceful getaway. Horner Cottage is a delightful, one bed cottage in the heart of Exmoor National Park. Located on the edge of the village of Luccombe - a Domesday Book, National Trust village - it doesn't get much more picturesque than this! The property is light, airy, well equipped and very comfortable with its own cottage garden and off street parking. Ideal for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers or anyone looking to relocate to the area. The cottage was converted many years ago from what was once the coach house for the Manor. It's now two holiday cottages, Horner Cottage sleeps 2, and Luccombe Cottage (next door) sleeps up to 4 guests. Horner Cottage is accessed by passing Luccombe Cottage to reach the front door. The entrance door opens up into a large hallway - plenty of room for coats and boots, etc. The spacious sitting room and kitchen within dining table are on either side of the hallway. Upstairs there is one large double bedroom with bathroom attached. The bathroom comprises bath with shower over, toilet and hand basin. The cottage is fitted with central heating throughout. There is also an 'electric wood-burner' in the sitting room. Heating, electricity and wifi are all included in the price of the accommodation. Bed linen and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take them on day trips. The kitchen is well-equipped with a broad range of cooking equipment, pots and pans as well as crockery/cutlery/glassware. There is a separate laundry room shared by this and the adjoining property that has a washing machine and clothes dryer. Please note, the water supply comes from a local natural spring. Horner Cottage has a patio area directly beside the cottage which is gravelled. Both the front door and French doors from the kitchen open onto this area with picnic bench. The property also has a grass area with comfortable loungers. The garden is fenced around the perimeter. There is a pedestrian gate at the end of the garden leading over a small bridge into the fields - there is a right of way along the hedge-line leading to the woodland on the lower slopes of Dunkery. One dog is welcome for a supplement of £15. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs. The Manor House (where the owners live) was the original Rectory for the 14th century village church next door, there is even a private entrance to the church yard from the gardens. The gardens also include a stunning selection of magnificent trees, including some of England's oldest and largest trees - it's a horticulturist's dream!More

The host (Phil) was most welcoming and helpful, the welcome pack was extremely generous. The outlook to the Manor garden was amazing. We loved the place and the freedom to use the private track to the church. The decor and colours schemes were delightful and...More
