Our second visit and would not hesitate to holiday at Lag na Mara again. Location amazing and Uig a beautiful area of Lewis. Cottage is well equipped and comfortable and makes a good base for relaxing and/or exploring further afield. Walks and wildlife aplenty everything you want from a holiday.

About the neighbourhood
From early spring into late summer Uig is a carpet of colour that even the sheep are hard pressed to crop. Uig is home to Sea and Golden Eagles as well as many other species of rare birds. Corncrakes are still to be found in Uig, their grating call far removed from the song of the Skylarks that soar high overhead. Red Deer, Otters and Seals are commonplace and guided tours are available if you fancy a bit of wildlife spotting.

Uig is traditionally a crofting area where villages tend their sheep, fish and still weave Tweed. Although known as Harris Tweed, this famous cloth is weaved on crofts throughout the islands. Weaving demonstrations are available.

The beaches on Uig are famous for their beauty, turquoise waves crashing against miles of white san... more
