A brilliant little cosy gem
Myself and my partner stayed here for 2 nights in February. We can not recommend this place enough. We recommend the hut called Trench it's the biggest one with a spotless ensuite and a fully functional kitchen. The large window was perfect to lay in bed watch the lake and wildlife. The log burner in the evening was so nice. The grounds are beautiful. Geri and mark the hosts are 1st class. We recieved warm rolls and pastries on our 1st morning and they was delicious and such a lovely touch. Along with fresh eggs milk and juice. We really felt at home. The hut was spotless with a comfortable bed. We made breakfast lunch and dinner here, enjoyed walks around the land. Done a little bit of fishing. So peaceful and relaxing. We cant wait to return in warmer weather to sample the fresh swimming lake. The hosts are genuine lovely people friendly informative and happy to help. We couldn't of asked for a better 2nights or pure relaxation. I would recommend this to all my friends and family. Thank you again Geri and mark

A wonderful break..
From the minute of arrival, we felt the stress drift away. A wonderful Shepherds hut on a lake with an island. This is shared with another, Roach, on the opposite side. We stayed in Carp and an island offered privacy for both rentals. A separate private shower and toilet is provided a short walk away. Also a washing up area. A portaloo outside for convenience. Everything you need is supplied. The bed was very comfy. There's a fridge, small freezer compartment, a microwave and two gas hobs. We washed up outside using the bowl provided. A wonderful deck looking over the lake provided many an evening playing cards, chatting, eating, scrabble. The TV/DVD was there if needed. We read, and relaxed. My husband caught many carp around 12 - 18lb.. The ducks and geese woodpeckers, squirrels, birds all provided entertainment. The fish were jumping. Mark and Geraldine were always on hand and absolutely lovely. The woodland walks We enjoyed. Takeaway delivery available. Crowborough Town Close by. Pubs and restaurants. We shall definitely be returning.

Only two hours from London and you're in a different world
This is a beautiful and secluded place to stay. We lacked for nothing and could not recommend it more highly. Geri and Mark (the owners) were both so kind, helpful and welcoming. It was lovely just to be able to relax and enjoy the immediate surroundings. We hope to return soon!

Relaxing 3 night stay
My partner, my dog and I went along to hastingford for a 3 night break. We had a lovely welcome from Mark and Geraldine. We were shown to our shepherd's hut where we found a welcome basket of food and drinks which we enjoyed very much. My partner enjoyed the fishing on the lake next to our hut, and he caught some very good condition fish . There was plenty of walking space in the secure fields for our dog, he loved running there and the views were beautiful. The shepherd's hut was so comfortable and cosy , and we had everything we needed in there for our stay. The private bathroom was very clean too. This was a very enjoyable relaxing stay , we loved it so much we booked to go again at the end of the summer ! We can't wait

Silence of nature
Relaxing, peaceful and natural are words to describe this place. So welcoming and friendly. Fishing by day, log fire and barbecue by night. Sunrise coffee shared with some newly made friends. Such a lovely pair of ducks. For the fisherman, the lakes are maturing so well, and will grow from strength to strength. Not my first time, and certainly not my last.

Relaxing and cosy break
Had a wonderful time at the fisherman’s hut. The hosts were extremely welcoming and the hut was well resourced with thoughtful touches. The log burner made for a snuggly stay even though the weather was frosty outside. Local pubs and restaurants were lovely. We will definitely be returning here!

Reccomended
We had the most relaxing and lovely weekend away. Geri (and her team) were brilliant hosts. So kind and helpful, even giving us a lift there and back in the car. Thank you again! The hut was clean and warm. We enjoyed having the telly on with a glass of vino while sitting by the fire, listening to the rain outside. We went on a nice 4 mile walk too where we reached the Buxted inn which did wonderful food. The establishment just won 4 in a bed on channel 4! The facilities were great. WiFi, a little fridge and just a short walk from the hut - a bathroom with a loo and hot shower. We can't wait to come back (with a car) and check out the springs and the pubs we missed. We reccomend!!

A beautiful, peaceful, secluded little gem
The shepherd's hut itself is charming - small but contains all you need - and has a lovely balcony. It looks directly onto the lake and is surrounded on all sides by green. This is an ideal spot for a lovely, peaceful getaway. Fishing was also fun. Geraldine and Mark were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful weekend away
I surprised my boyfriend for his birthday and what a treat it was! We were both delighted with the Fisherman's hut which was very well thought appointed and spotlessly clean. Everything was provided for us to make breakfast in the morning, the bed was really comfortable and the log burner made the hut really lovely and cosy in the evening. The bathroom facilities were also spotless and very well maintained. We didn't fish, but did have a swim in the swimming pond - what fun! Great views and we caught the end of the wildflowers, which were beautiful. I would recommend this place, and we hope to go back soon ourselves. Thank you for your warm hospitality!
