Nuthatch Lodge is one of just 5 places to stay at Wheatland Farm Nature Reserve, Devon. Set in a meadow, it has big patio doors opening onto the deck and veranda, with views towards Dartmoor. Trees on three sides give you privacy and bring the birdsong to your doorstep. Nuthatch Lodge is more than just a place to stay - set in 21 acres, you'll find bikes and boats to borrow, BBQ, kids play equipment, lots of suggestions for things to do nearby, and we’re always happy to take you on a guided nature walk, because your stay helps makesour conservation project viable. This lodge is cosy and warm, with electric heating. The solar hot water has immersion back up, and your power (included) is from our 11kW wind turbine (and green grid backup). Nuthatch Lodge sleeps 4 in a double room and a cross-over bunk room. A sofa bed in the living room means everyone can be a 'single' if they want to. We make the beds up ready for your arrival. The lodge bedrooms are not huge, but they do offer much more space than most glamping pods. In the kitchen there is a microwave and conventional (electric) oven, induction hob, kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery, and a full sized fridge freezer. The living area has comfortable chairs, a TV, and DVD player (and that great view!). The bathroom has a short bath (good for youngsters) and an over-the-bath shower. We provide a towel for each guest. Please note, parking is about 40m away and there are some steps up to the lodge. If anyone in your group has access/mobility requirements, please contact us to see how we can help.More

Interaction with guests
We live in the farmhouse on site and will greet you (with fresh scones) and show you in. We love to discuss things to do locally and can supply local maps. We walk and cycle a lot and can point you to good spots, but are happy to leave you alone if you prefer.

Thanks for your great review - we always love it when guests make use of the bikes. There's so much exploring to be done and doing it slowly you see a lot more. Hope we can welcome you back sometime.

Getting around
We have extensive 'days out' ideas for you, available online when you arrive. They are grouped into 5, 15 and up to 30 miles from Nuthatch Lodge at Wheatland Farm. Most people come with a car, but there are bikes to borrow, and we will help with public transport options where we can.
How to get there
A car is useful, but if you're relatively fit and willing to make a bit of effort with public transport a car free holiday is perfectly possible - and we will collect you from bus or train (stagecoach 5B at Winkleigh, or Eggesford Train Station). We are about 2 miles outside the Saxon village of Winkleigh. Drive time is about 2 hours from Bristol, 4 from Birmingham. Full directions available on request.
