Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Relaxing place to stay
The location of the Old Post Office was great, in a very quiet area and the views from the back of the property were amazing. The Old post office was very well equipped and we had a very comfortable stay. Everything you could need was provided in the cottage, including washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, coffee machine, underfloor heating, and a spa bath in the bathroom, with lovely toiletries provided. The hosts Nick and Sandra were very welcoming. The flowers, wine, milk tea coffee and biscuits we found on arrival were very much appreciated after our journey. We enjoy Visiting the Yorkshire area and were pleased that we chose to stay at the Old Post Office, a very relaxing week.

Wonderful, relaxing and peaceful stay with every comfort imagineable.
This was a lovely, relaxing place to stay. The hosts, Sandra and Nick were very welcoming and clearly consider what guests might need or find useful (state of the art washer-dryer, coffee machine). A spa bath was the icing on the cake. We really appreciated the flowers, wine and biscuits. Our kids loved that some sweets had been left in their bedroom for them! On top of this, it was warm and scrupulously clean and tidy. Highly recommended. This is also an ideal base for exploring the North York Moors, Yorkshire coast and York.

A gem of a cottage
A real gem finding such a beautiful cottage. Great communication beforehand and a lovely warm welcome from Sandra on arrival. The cottage really is just like the photos, all finished to a high level. Reading their visitors book and seeing that people have returned multiple times really is testament to Sandra and Nick and the lovely cottage they offer. Ideal location with so much to do all within 45 minute travelling time, Whitby, Bridlington, Beverley Races make for a great day out too. Whilst right on the doorstep take a step back in time at Eden Camp and experience the sites, sounds and smells of World War 2, a bit further afield and there’s the delights of seeing the Polar Bears at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

Fantastic stay in a lovely cottage
We spent at week at Easter in the Old Post Office and had a fantastic stay. It is a beautifully presented cottage, with all essentials provided to avoid last minute rush to the shops on arrival. It was equipped with everything that we could need and was warm and cosy. The wine and Easter treats were much appreciated as well. Sandra and Nick could not be more thoughtful or helpful owners, and we really enjoyed our stay; look forward to coming back!

Absolut wiederholenswert
The Old Post Office unsere erste Anfrage zwecks Übernachtung erhalten.

Excellent facilities (also for families), idyllic rural location, lovely hosts who are very helpful and as an experience for the children an open fireplace for Marshmallow-roasting: What more could you want at Halloween. If we visit this region again, The Old Post Office will receive our first request for accommodation. Anke,Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review, it was great having you to stay with us, an added bonus that the weather was kind too. Sandra
