Mash's Row is situated on the edge of the ancient market town of Aylsham, a short drive from Norwich, Cromer, the Broads and Norfolk's finest beaches. It is nestled by the river Bure and next to the Weaver's Way, a delight for walkers of all ages. Recently launched as a holiday let, Mash's Row is a traditional brick and flint cottage built in 1845 by William and Elizabeth Mash for the workers at the mill which is still to be seen from the bridge near the cottage. The cottage has 2 gardens, the front one is spacious with apple trees and a pond, at the back there's a cosy cottage garden with a stream at the end and is a real wind down after a busy day exploring this wonderfully peaceful spot. A kingfisher is nesting in the river and was spotted on the 9th November 2014. About the neighbourhood
Alysham is a bustling market town 11 miles north of Norwich on the A140 to Cromer perfectly situated so you can reach the most popular spots in 20-30 minutes drive. It is a short walk up to the market square where all usual amenities are situated and with many independent shops to browse in. There are plenty of cafes and a lovely restaurant in the Black Boys Hotel (which once entertained Samuel Pepys!) and an excellent Indian restaurant. There is also a Fish & Chip shop and Chinese take away. Aylsham Antiques is a quaint olde world shop selling second hand furniture bric-a brac etc great for bargain hunters! There are 2 small supermarkets in the town (Co-op and Budgens) and a larger Tescos for stocking up on the way into Aylsham from Norwich.
How to get there
From the Midlands or South: Nearest train station from London is Norwich (an approx journey of 2 hours). From Norwich a regular bus service goes to Aylsham - alternatively a taxi costs approx 15 pounds, either would take around 35 minutes or 20 minutes from Norwich airport. Driving from Stansted is about 2 hours. By car, the M11 or A14 will direct you to Cambridge/The East, follow signs for Newmarket and then A11 to Norwich. From the outer ring road follow signs for 5 miles to Norwich Airport (A140). Go past the airport and follow signs to Aylsham for 8 miles. When you arrive in Aylsham, the cottage is situated off the historic street of Millgate over the bridge by the Mill. From the North: Follow signs to King's Lynn, then signs to Fakenham, then on to Aylsham. It is about 1 hour 20...
