We stayed in the beautiful cottage for our first anniversary and couldn’t have wished for a more magical stay! Unbeknownst to us we have full and private access to the grounds meaning we could spend both evenings with a bottle of wine watching the sunset over the place we got married. Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful - we’ll definitely be making a return trip to the cottage in the future!

Outstanding stay at an outstanding manor
I stayed with my two teenage girls for 10 days during summer 2020. As there were no wedding events happening we virtually had Creaksea Place to ourselves whilst we stayed in the cottage, which was cozy and well equipped. We all truly had a magical stay. Summer days and evenings were spent relaxing overlooking the lawn and lakes with beautiful riverside walks near by. Jon Paul and Claire answered any queries quickly and efficiently and we were truly made to feel like family staying at home. Memories of our Creaksea Place stay will be cherished and revisited often. Thank you all for taking such great care of us!

Hi Colin! I'm so happy that you finally managed to fly out! The Harris family are such an integral part of Creeksea's history, and we truly cherish meeting and hosting you all, from across America. Thank you for the (extraordinarily touching) card and champagne, we'll be sure to toast you when we break it open this summer! We're greatly looking forward to seeing you again!

Truly amazing country retreat.
A massive and greatly deserved ‘Thank You’ to Jon-Paul and everyone else at Creeksea- Claire, Sharon, Jason, Terri, Meagan, Geoff, Chris, Barbara, Suzanna, Neville and Jean, and anyone else we missed, who ensured that our stay was everything we could have possibly wished for; simply first class. What an INCREDIBLE experience! Our friends have just booked their wedding for June of next at Creeksea, and this trip absolutely cemented our enthusiasm for pushing them to do so. Whilst not being from the area, we’ve long heard about the house and history and simply had to see it for ourselves. It didn’t disappoint! The house truly IS breathtaking, and Creeksea itself is quiet, tranquil and simply stunning! We’re absolutely thrilled to be returning with all of our family and friends!

A Magical, Restorative Stay
Our experience staying at Creeksea Place exceeded our expectations at every turn. From the moment we booked, communication with our host Jon-Paul was seamless. We felt as if we were being invited to visit family, and that the three of us were treasured guests. When we arrived, Sharon met us with a smile and a spirit of generosity, and we felt right at home. The basket of goodies was an unexpected and much appreciated touch.
The cottage is lovely and includes all the necessary amenities to make a stay more comfortable. We were over the moon when we saw the fireplace, laid for our enjoyment. We spent hours sitting by the beautiful fire. On a chilly January night, there is nothing like cozying up to a fire, and we felt as if we were connecting to one another and connecting to something more ancient, something more essential. My husband is descended from Arthur Harris, and as watched the flames, we had a very real sense that we were witness to what I can only define as a "thin place" between our world and worlds before.
While there, we took long walks through the property and to the river, enjoyed a delicious meal at The Ship Inn; explored The Parish Church of St. Mary the Virgin and All Saints Church; and enjoyed breakfast at Parlour Cafe, which is only a few steps from Creeksea. Burnam-on-Crouch is within walking distance, only a mile or so from Creeksea, and has plenty of eateries and grocery options to satisfy.
On our day of departure, Jon-Paul's wonderful father Geoff gave us a guided tour of the property, sharing stories of the family and the home's history, all of which left us with an even greater desire to return after renovations are complete.
It is rare to travel across the pond and feel right at home. But that is exactly what happened for our family. Jon-Paul, Sharon, Geoff, and Chris, you are all dear and lovely, and we hope our paths will cross again.

Greetings to the ‘Baileys 3’- Where to begin! Your passion and enthusiasm for the house was wondrously apparent before you even drove through the gates! I’m so incredibly happy and sincerely relieved that we managed to hold your ideals up. We’re so dearly and deeply invested in the history and ‘story’ of Creeksea Place, and ‘family’ like yourselves, whom’s ancestors helped build the Manor, remain so welcome, appreciated and treasured. Thank you for being such incredibly engaging, exciting and compassionate guests, and for helping perpetuate the ‘magic’ and dynasty that Creeksea Place is. Thank you also for penning such a touching and heartfelt review- The team and I couldn’t possibly be more grateful. Your ‘home’ will always be here for you and the entire Harris conglomerate. From my family (and team), to yours, thank you! We’ll definitely be seeing you again soon!

Characterful cottage in peaceful historic manor estate
Very peaceful place, cottage is attached to a historic manor house, with lovely grounds and walking tracks to marina and Burnham-on-Crouch. The Cottage is well equipped, with central heating and working fireplace (wood supplied by owner). The Crouch peninsula is primarily farming but towns like Southend, Chelmsford and Colchester are less than an hours drive. We spent a week and really enjoyed our stay. We spent several afternoons sitting on the balcony of the bar/restaurant at the nearby marina, enjoying the sunshine and the view.

Life changing experience
My family visited Creeksea a few years previous and have been trying to convince me to visit this ‘winter wonderland’ ever since. I stayed for a fortnight and completely fell in love with this stunning castle, and the beautiful riverside town surrounding it. Creeksea Place is an absolute marvel and I was left to enjoy the house and grounds entirely alone. Jon-Paul, together with Sharon and Claire guided me flawlessly through the entire stay, always being available, but never overbearing. I’ll never forget my time at this truly special and welcoming ‘home’, and I cannot wait to return with my family.

It was such a delight to host a poet! Your family were truly wonderful and we loved hosting them back in 2015- We're so happy that you managed to make the trip and to prove just as delightful as them. Thank you also for the beautiful note and poem! We have framed it and placed it in the Regency Room. Please come visit us again soon!

MAGICAL! I would put 6 stars if I could!!
What a wonderful and beautiful manor house! To have enjoyed a week at this incredible home is something my boyfriend and I will treasure forever. Everything was perfect- Communication was excellent, details were specified and explained wonderfully and we felt incredibly looked after by the owner, Jon-Paul and the housekeeper, Sharon. The local town is delightful, with tons of stuff going on, but we found curling up by the huge fire place was one of our favorite things to do!
I couldn’t recommend this magical castle more highly!

Stunning Country Estate!
My husband and I had no idea that this magical manor even existed. The house is simply exquisite and surrounded by the most beautiful and serene English Countryside. We were the only couple staying there and truly felt like we were Lords of the manor for the weekend! The owner, Jon-Paul was always available to field our concerns and yet enabled us to have enough space for us to feel entirely (and wonderfully) alone. I couldn't recommend this house and experience more. Just ensure that you ask in advance for a 'historical' tour of the house and grounds.

Can't wait to return!
Beautiful, spacious cottage set on the side of the house in beautiful grounds. It had everything we needed, including wood to keep the fireplaces going on a rather chilly weekend! The place has such a homely feel to it, we absolutely loved our stay. Both the cafe across the road and the pub recommended to us were superb. This was our first experience booking with tripadvisor, so I was hesitant at first, but it couldn't be easier. The owner kept me informed all the way through and everyone we dealt with were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. We had a lovely, relaxing break, and would definitely return.

I'm so happy that you were able to enjoy the estate and that you relish the peace and tranquility it affords as much as we do. Creeksea Barns Cafe is truly delightful, as are the many diverse pubs in the vicinity; they'll all be grateful for you praise too!
We're looking forward to seeing you again soon!
