The country/river view from the property’s patio was amazing. It was an easy 10 minute walk into the town. The Bridge (dining only at weekends) and the Sportsman’s Arms were also easily reached by walking in the opposite direction. The property contained loads of walk instructions to suit all tastes. There are interesting places to visit within driving range of the property. The property was very clean and in excellent condition throughout. It also contained all the amenities we required. The owner provided a wonderful lemon drizzle cake and freshly laid eggs. We enjoyed a wonderful week in Pateley.

Wonderful Week
Our cottage was like a home from home. The equipment in the kitchen couldn't be faulted. The bed was extremely comfortable and the view from the patio one of the best we've had in many years of self catering.

Fabulous stay near Pateley Bridge
We had a wonderful holiday in our cottage near Pateley Bridge. The cottage is delightful, very comfortable, clean and has everything we needed....and it's in a beautiful location - very peaceful with fab views. We loved walking into Pateley Bridge along the river and it provided everything we needed. There's so much to do nearby, and plenty of walking straight from the front door.

beautiful location
Very well equipped cottage, nicely furnished and decorated, clean and comfortable. Lovely peaceful location but within easy reach of Pateley Bridge itself. Also a short drive to other nearby towns and villages, e.g. Harrogate.
Catherine and Daniel generously left us 6 eggs, a large cake, a packet of delicious biscuits, plus tea and coffee!
We hope to return.

A wonderfully scenic location, and very peaceful.
We were the first guests into the new cottage and thoroughly enjoyed a welcome break. The property is situated close to the River Nidd, and there are lovely flat walks into the village of Pateley, and upstream to some terrific pubs serving excellent food.
The property is very comfortable, and furnished and finished to a high standard throughout. The sauna was particularly welcome after a long walk!
One of the highlights for me was how dark and quiet the cottage is at night. Great to sit out and enjoy the stars - there is so little light pollution it reminded me of nights spent in deserts.
A fantastic place if you're looking to unwind.

Scenic location in the Yorkshire dales
This comfortable, well-equipped has lovely views and is ideally situated for exploring Nidderdale. We (3 adults) stayed for 4 nights and used it as a base for hiking. E.g. to Brimham Rocks and around Gouthwaite Reservoir. It only takes 10 - 15 minutes to walk into town along the river, where you can buy supplies and/or eat out. We enjoyed pizza at Olley’s. The cottage was very clean, and it was lovely to find cake, biscuits, eggs and milk there on our arrival. The fine weather meant we were able to eat some of our meals on the patio, plus we made use of the Dark Skies package; we heard owls and saw bats while out looking at the moon and stars.

Had we been aware of the condition of this property we would not have made a booking.
The glowing Tripadvisor reports and website pictures were impressive and, as a result, we made an online booking for three days at the beginning of July. However, on arrival, we were horrified at the poor condition of the property and, particularly, the lack of cleanliness. The cottage was run-down and scruffy, the garden untidy and overgrown. Inside there was an unpleasant smell and the floors were dirty and dusty, with the kitchen floor covered with crumbs. The shower cabinet was dirty, with brown stains and not somewhere one would want to wash. On turning back the quilt on the single bed, it appeared the sheet had not been changed from the previous occupants as it was both rumpled and stained.
The conditions were so bad that we declined to stay and left. The proprietor accepted our decision, without comment, and provided a full refund.

I am sorry you did not enjoy the five minutes you spent at River View. We had an inkling you did not like the place when you got down to floor level on entering the kitchen to inspect under the cabinets. Your commitment to finding fault was further rewarded by a small mark on a freshly washed sheet on a bed you were not sleeping in. The grout in the bathroom was clearly the final straw. We issued a full refund on the deposit you had made two days before because you were only there for the blink of an eye. You said you didn't want to stay and we are not in the business of holding people to ransom. As an aside, Harrogate Borough Council had changed the collection routes and there was a couple of weeks' delay on recycling collection. Hence the boxes.

Everything we wanted and more.
What a great venue, a warm welcome, tea and cakes on arrival and fresh eggs for breakfast. Quality bedding and towels, a very cosy cottage, perfect for us to discover Yorkshire for the first time, and who would believe that Pateley Bridge has everything!!! We will be back.

Pateley Bridge is a very picturesque town in the heart of peaceful Nidderdale. It is a vibrant hub with plenty of facilities, from local butchers, fishmongers, grocers, bakers, post office and supermarket to Playhouse, leisure centre and museum. Despite this, Pateley has a very 'village' feel. In fact it was voted Britain's Best Village High Street in 2017.
Short, medium and long walks are on offer from the doorstep. The local area is also full of stunning cycling and loads of places to visit. Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal World Heritage Site, Brimham Rocks and Stump Cross Caverns are all within a fifteen minute drive. Housteen Gorge, Birchfield Farm and Studfold also offer great days out with children.
Getting around
If you are looking for a walking or cycling holiday, there is enough in the local area to not need a car. Everything you need in terms of food and supplies is available in Pateley, which is a ten minute walk along the river.
If you want to visit the surrounding area, a car is recommended. There is a bus service, but it serves Harrogate and the road in, not other local towns, Yorkshire Dales National Park, National Trust sites etc.

How to get there
Pateley Bridge is a half hour drive from Harrogate, one hour from Leeds and 20 minutes from Ripon. Most people drive here to make exploring the local area easier. Harrogate has a train station and bus number 24 runs once an hour between there and Pateley. The cottage is a ten minute walk up the River from the bus stop.
If you are driving, take Low Wath Road from Pateley Bridge and follow it up until you see Nidderdale High Schoo and Nidderdale Pool and Leisure Centre on your left. Ours is the first farm track on your right afterwards.
