Chantry cottage with its “chocolate box” looks is situated in the picturesque Peak District village of Ashford in the Water near Bakewell. The cottage is in a central location overlooking the church and just a short stroll away from the famous Sheep Wash bridge. The village is positioned on the River Wye, one and a half miles north of Bakewell and just a few minutes drive from Chatsworth House.
Chantry cottage can accommodate up to 6 people.We have a double bedroom, a twin bedded room and bunk bedded room. There is a family bathroom with roll top bath, separate shower and toilet. The lounge has a feature fireplace with multi-fuel stove, there is a separate dining room, and downstairs toilet. The kitchen is complete with built-in oven, grill, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. During off-peak times we provide part-week breaks of 3 or more days. The changeover day is Friday or Monday. Therefore you can visit from Friday to Friday, Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday. However please contact us if you require alternate days and we may be able to accommodate your request. Please note that during the summer months we can only accommodate none standard changeover days very rarely.

Gorgeous cosy cottage, great loc, beautifully appointed
Loved this cottage!!Just left Chantry Cottage this morning and missing it already - this cottage is a gem in a lovely village. Cosy but really spacious for 5 adults - well appointed with everything you need for a self catering holiday and beautifully furnished - so comfortable. Large lounge with plenty of seating, large dining table galley kitchen and delightful conservatory that my m-i-l loved to sit in to read papers. Courtyard garden with lovely plants and more seating. Downstairs loo and upstairs bathroom with a shower (no step into it) and standalone bath and the fluffiest towels. Main bedroom large and beautifully decorated looking out onto the church.Twin room also pretty and spacious with a window seat, bunk room plenty of space for 2 adult 'kids' with underbed storage. Plenty of parking on lane outside. Very good place to walk or cycle to Monsal Head and trails..2-3 miles from house...we even made Monsal parkrun on the last Saturday! 5 mins away! Cafe with great food and bantams next door...shop with papers etc along road. Pub 2 doors away. Chantry Cottage really delivered for us - lovely holiday! Ps for info...the stairs upstairs are straight but steepish but 94 yr old m-i-l managed up and down without any issues

Delicious cottage in a gorgeous setting
Chantry Cottage is an absolutely delicious cottage in a quite gorgeous setting and couldn't wish for a lovelier place to stay. The cottage is beautiful inside and out, really well furnished, absolutely spotless, quiet, very comfortable, spacious and yet cosy. The garden is lovely, fab design and conservatory very relaxing on a summers evening.
Love the little quirky different features too, the secret refrigerator and the gramaphone! This is the perfect holiday home, and a home it feels.
Great location for walking, cracking bus service to Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock and beyond, and so much to do. Would highly recommend Monsal Head, Crich Tramway Village, Chatsworth, Lathkill Dale... too many to mention!
Thank you for the gorgeous home, a week wasn't long enough and so look forward to a return. Can't recommend Chantry Cottage enough :-)

Magical cottage and village!
We absolutely LOVED Chantry Cottage and the village of Ashford-in-the -Water! The cottage is cozy yet roomy, the bathroom and kitchen are updated, the gardens are lovely and the view of the church is perfect. (Our only minute complaint was that we would've enjoyed a few welcoming teabags and milk.) We didn't have a car, but there was bus service very close by and walking trails in abundance. The village has only one pub, one cafe, and a convenience store, but all 3 are excellent. The pub backs directly onto the back garden, has friendly staff and great food, but was also so quiet that we never heard it after returning home.We were sorry to leave this cottage and are hoping to stay there again in future. Highly recommend!

Everything we could have hoped for!
Our 30th Birthday present to our Norwegian step-son was to share Derbyshire with him - where my husband is from - on a combined trip also including first introductions to the English side of our family. This was our first time outside of Norway in over two years. Chantry Cottage was the perfect place to stay, with tasteful bedrooms, a cosy sitting-room with a lovely fireplace, a pretty winter garden, everything we could want of facilities, and right around the corner from a nice pub. In addition, Ashford-in-the-Water is within close proximity to great walks in Derbyshire. We visited Chatsworth, Bakewell, Hartington and Castleton, and went on walks on the Monsal Trail, Kinder Scout/ Edale and Carls Wark, all beautifully picturesque. Niki was very helpful, answering any questions we had, always quickly, and the instructions in the cottage were clear and easy to follow for anything we needed to know. The description of the Covid precautions was reassuring. We could not have hoped for better for this very special occasion!

Lovely stay at Chantry Cottage
Had a lovely week staying in Chantry Cottage . Very clean and as others say much more spacious than the photos show. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory enjoying the views of the garden in the evenings. The cottage was well stocked with all the basics needed. Pretty garden and the cottage is in a great location next door to the tea room and pub . Would recommend

Wonderful cottage in a very pretty village
Chantry Cottage is a very comfortable place to stay in a charming location. It's bigger than it looks from the outside, and has a lovely walled garden at the rear. The rooms are very cosy and there is a super wood burner in the living room. The village is very pretty and has good pubs, a cafe and a shop so everything you need is close by. Plus there is a new Aldi a few minutes away so stocking up is easy. The location is perfect for visiting local sights such as Chatsworth and Thornbridge. A really super place to stay!!

Chocolate Box perfect
The pictures on the ad don't do the cottage any justice. It's so much nicer and bigger than it looks. We had 4 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room. The house has everything you need including an old gramophone which took us a while to get started. Plenty of dvds and games for a cosy night it. There are 2 pubs less than a minutes walk away.
The village is picture perfect to. The walks around the village were picturesque too. I would recommend the monsal trail and bike hire nearby. We will definitely be returning. The hosts were amazing too.

Lovely cottage in the village centre
Perfect cottage beautifully appointed and it really felt like home. There is a lovey pub practically next door and it overlooks the church at the front.

Perfect country cottage
Chantry Cottage was picture postcard on the outside, but even more perfect on the inside. Very spacious and clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a log burner for cosy evening after a long walk in the rain (British summer)
A great base for seeing the Peak District with a lovey Tea Room, Pub and corner shop. Will recommend to all my family and friends.
