Overview
Guest house -
2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 6
Znojmo, South Moravian Region, Moravia
The building history of the house began only after the medieval town had been surrounded by walls in the 13th century. Gothic-Renaissance and early Renaissance building expansion of the town began during the second quarter of the 16th century when a smaller terraced house with a poky atrium came into being. A new arcade hall arched by two fields of the groined vault was facing the atrium.
The present day renovation had therefore two aims in view: to create a well appointed guesthouse for the clientele of today (there are four roomy suites in the house) and to preserve historical character of the house at the same time. These efforts are also noticable in the premises of the cellar pub as well as in the beer bath.

About the neighbourhood
The Gothic Church of St. Nicholas and the Late Gothic Town Hall tower are the most recognizable landmarks. St Nicolas` Church was built in 1348 by Emperor Charles IV, and the town hall, with its 75 m (250 ft) tower, dates from around 1446.

Overlooking the Dyje River valley, on the edge of the medieval city, there is Znojmo Castle, dating back to 11th century, founded by Přemyslid dukes. The only remains of the castle used by the Přemysl dukes is the Romanesque Rotunda of Saint Catherine, the interior of which is covered with 11th-century frescoes depicting biblical scenes and illustrating the life of Přemysl.
