Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Restful retreat
Such a beautiful location and retreat. It's immaculate and feels like home from home. Everything is thoughtfully presented and with excellent attention to detail. Lovely and new and everything you need for a few nights or a longer trip. We went for a week and enjoyed everything, even the miniature goats coming to say hello! Highly recommend and also consider the other cottages on site; fantastic venue and don't forget the games room and farm shop treats!

Peaceful reflection
Our third stay at Manor House farm but the first time in the Milking Parlour - an ideal place for relaxing in comfortable surroundings with stunning views . Julia and John have thought of everything for a relaxing break and we appreciate their attention to detail and the extras. Their farm produce is excellent and available for purchase in the games room freezer. We look forward to staying again next year. Many thanks

Simply perfection
A beautifully renovated, homely and stylish milking parlour, well thought out and providing quality accommodation, where everything….and more….is provided. We cannot think of anything it lacked! Outdoor seating areas, BBQ, a large games room, stunning views across the most gorgeous countryside, walks from the door, attractions and bike trails nearby. Sad to leave! Thank you Julia and John

Great accommodation & location
Pretty easy review to write as we loved our break, the accommodation & everything at the parlour. What a lovely warm, comfortable and relaxing barn this property is, especially when in early February, winter occasionally reared its head. From a powerful shower, roll top bath and bedding, through to lovely under-floor heating and a warm log burner, along with great wifi and a well appointed kitchen, the place itself was a pleasure to stay in. Close by are some wonderful walks and Bakewell, so location wise it was spot on as well. Enjoyed some of the farm produce (sausages & meatballs) and finished the weekend break playing pool and table tennis in the games room! The website pictures and the various 5 star reviews I read before hand, which highlighted how many others enjoyed their break as much as we did, are entirely accurate.

Beautiful Cottage in a Beautiful Location
We agree with all the previous reviews! The hosts are great, the cottage is amazing and the facilities are everything you could need for a break. The location means it's a great base to explore this part of the Peak District (Matlock, Bakewell, Buxton, Monsal Trail or Chatsworth House for a start). There's a pub a 5 minute walk away or an Aldi a short drive if you want to grab supplies. We can't wait to return!

Perfect location to explore the Peak District
We could not fault our stay in the Milking Parlour. The accommodation was to a high standard and spotlessly clean with some nice treats on arrival. The farm is in a great location and in easy reach of places we wanted to visit (Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Monsal Trail etc...). There were some nice circular walks from the farm too, and the views from the farm were amazing. We would highly recommend this accommodation and do plan to return again n the future.

Beautiful cottage for two in a blissful location
We had a fantastic three night stay here and would love to return. The cottage is so attractively furnished - it's simple and comfortable, it has personality but isn't too quirky or kitsch. The double sided log burner is a luxury and the views across the Derbyshire Dales from the French windows are stunning. It's too easy to lapse into hyperbole, but everything really was perfect. Julia couldn't have been more helpful, from finding us some ice for gin and tonics when we arrived to answering questions by email before we arrived. The whole site is beautifully tended. A family party occupied the other properties across the yard while we were there: the Milking Parlour is thoughtfully designed so it still feels private even when others are about. The games room was a great entertainment on a wet and snowy day. We enjoyed a very traditional pub lunch in Sheldon Village. If you want to hide away and self-cater, I recommend taking provisions with you as there isn't a shop in Sheldon. The kitchen is well equipped - it's no hardship cooking here for two in this magical spot high in the Dales! There are great walks and views from the cottage - or Bakewell is a short drive down the hill.

Bliss!
What a stunning little place! The views were wonderful, the interior was so comfortable and tasteful, and our hosts have clearly worked extremely hard on creating the perfect getaway in a very picturesque part of the Peak District. Hens and sheep welcomed us along with thoughtful treats inside our weekend retreat. Take a look at the other holiday cottages on the same site, they are equally as beautiful...thank you x

Beautiful - cottage and location.
The cottage has been recently renovated (this year) to a very high standard. The fixtures, fittings and decor are very attractive. There is a games room with lots of activities for children and adults. Also a communal washing machine and dryer. The location is great, quiet with a great view from the back of the cottage (Milking Parlour) recommended walks from the cottage are provided in the information folder. The owners are on hand, but not obtrusively, should there be any problems. Safe cycle storage also for bikes, although the area is quite hilly!
