Whether you come to stay in the Farmhouse or the Studio, we look forward to welcoming you to what will be your home, here, at Eden House. The Farmhouse is your home for the period you are here, we will fully respect that, and we're sure that you will respond to the serenity of this place. We shall hand you the keys, you will be independent but you will find us available during your stay. The Farmhouse and The Tower, which is our private residence, are linked by a covered stairwell and a lockable door. On arrival you will find supplies for a first breakfast the following morning, as well as a dish of fruit and a complementary bottle of local wine. We shall be happy to lend you road maps and recommend places to visit and where to shop.

About the neighbourhood
‘Eden’ means ‘delight’ and it is the name we have given to our home nestling in its own olive grove in the Outer Mani in the Peloponnese, suspended between the mountains and the sea - just a 5-minute drive from the beach and 20 minutes from Kalamata, the capital and chief port of the area. As you ascend the rocky road to Eden House you leave the pressures of the 21stC behind. Here you can forget about connecting to email and reconnect with yourself instead (although Wi-Fi is available). The only sounds you will hear are those of cicadas, birdsong, the barking of distant dogs and goat bells. The scents of wild thyme and oregano fill the air. This is the Garden of Eden.
Getting around
You are only a 10-minute walk downhill from the village tavernas specialising in local food. But, you need a car for a 5-minute drive to the famous sandy beaches of Sandova and its seaside bars; a 20-minute drive to well-stocked supermarkets and the lively and elegant centre of Kalamata where cafés and bars lining its famous seafront provide the night life you might still be missing.
Making Eden House a base, there are many places of outstanding natural beauty and great historical interest to visit ranging from spectacular Ancient Greek sites as Ancient Messini, monasteries of Byzantium to medieval stone villages in the Mani to the magical Diros Caves and Cape Tenaro which the ancient Greeks believed to be the entrance into the underworld.

How to get there
Airport: Kalamata: 30.0 km
It is best to drive, the local transport to villages is erratic. Take the Athens-Kalamata motorway (whether from Athens, or from Kalamata/Messini airport) to its very end and continue on this main route signposted for Areopolis (and Kardamyli, Agios Nikolaos and Stoupa) bypassing the centre of Kalamata. The winding road will take you high up into the hills and, in the village of Kriskios, take a right turn for Megali Mantineia. Follow the narrow, winding country road for about 2 kms, past a small amphitheatre on the right, some stone house on the left, an unfinished villa on the right , then along a stone wall and then another kilometre, or so, until you see on your left, a private concreted road between an olive tree and a carob tree, leading up.
