Holiday Rental House
The house dates from 1778 – the date is carved above the fireplace in the living room beside the ancient bread oven and modern wood stove. The exposed stonework – spot the fossils – and beams exist happily with ‘tout confort moderne’.Among the delightful surprises is a loft bedroom with its own ladder. The huge kitchen/dining room is comprehensively equipped for 12. The spacious living room offers tv and sound system, an electronic keyboard and a bar with renovated stone sink. We offer wet-weather activities: books, board games, cards, etc. The large garden has fruit trees, patio furniture and a gas-fired barbecue. ...The house dates from 1778 – the date is carved above the fireplace in the living room beside the ancient bread oven and modern wood stove. Interaction with guests
We (Rosy and John) live 10 minutes' drive away and are readily contactable. We will provide a welcome pack - let us know what you want. We are sociable souls and hope you will visit us during your stay at Marcilly. There is a wealth of tourist information at the property, but we are happy to make suggestions. We have lived here for almost 14 years!

About the neighbourhood
Marcilly is in the Morvan, a beautiful region famous for wine, glorious scenery and architectural and archaeological treasures. It is sensible to do some research before your stay - check out Bazoches, Avallon, Vézelay, Autun, Beaune, Guédelon and other tourist attractions. Local shops and markets are a joy. There is a wealth of eateries, from 12 euro lunchtime specials in Corbigny to haute cuisine - surf the web for your preferences. In the square at Cervon is a map of recommended walks. The tourist office in Corbigny will suggest other activities, from tree climbing through riding to boating.
Getting around
Driving is a pleasure because of the lack of heavy traffic and the beautiful scenery. Hiring bikes is another option. There are several rambling clubs, including one for over-70s.
