Cottage

The Acorn Tiny House is at the heart of the farm, next to our old stone barn, and a short walking distance to the Stone Cottage and the Studio. It is a great home base for all of the wonderful outdoor activities in the area. While only 12 sqm big, it is surprisingly cosy and has all the essentials to make your stay comfortable! It can accommodate 1-2 people in a double bed, it has a proper kitchen with all appliances and utensils (though no oven), an inside and an outside table, a kettle braai and a fire pit. Sleeping corner, dining area and kitchen are all in one space. There is even a spatious shower in the house, while the toilet (a beautiful dry/compost toilet) is located in a separate ablution unit 30 meters away.

Dog Policy - Extra charge of R60 per dog per night (R30/n for the campsite) - Dogs are allowed at the discretion of management. - Dogs must be kept under control at all times and must be leashed if other guests are around. - Please pick up after your dog around the houses. - Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the couches. - We reserve the right to add an extra fee in case of damages caused by pets. - Owners take full responsibility for any damage or injury caused.

A tiny home away from home

I was lucky enough to send 2 months during the SA lockdown period on Tegwaan farm in this amazing little house. At no time did I feel like I needed more space, given the ample natural light and outside seating area, but also the well planned and tasteful layout of the interior. The kitchen is well appointed with all one needs including a gas cooker, the bed is comfortable, there is a small indoor seating area that I used as my office and the shower was is lovely with it's ferns and large window to the greenery behind the house. Everything has been thought of. I personally especially liked using and learning about things like the dry, composting toilet as I am interested in off-the-grid living (Tegwaan has a lot of these kinds of solutions tucked away). I have returned to Tegwaan many times since my first stay and it really does feel like a home away from home. If you do visit you'll see my little bedside table that I added next to the bed as a personal thank you :)
