Courtyard Cottage is an old building in the grounds of Ingleby Manor in what used to be the coach houses for the estate. It is a very cosy cottage with huge sitting room with open fire and farmhouse style kitchen downstairs. Upstairs are 2 large and airy bedrooms and a bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. Courtyard Cottage has its own large garden and patio area with fantastic views of the hills. The original medieval plan of Ingleby Manor, with living areas arranged around two internal courtyards divided by the Great Hall, allowed us to create spacious and airy apartments with minimal alteration to the 16th Century house. Each is totally self-contained with its own entrances and lovely views over the surrounding gardens, woods and hills. About the neighbourhood
Set in the North York Moors National Park we are in a rural setting with great walking & biking. There are lots of English Heritage, National Trust and private properties and gardens to visit within easy reach. The village of Ingleby Greenhow has a pub within walking distance and an excellent butcher (who is also the local farmer) with lovely local produce. 1Hr drive to York, Leeds & Newcastle.
Getting around
You will need a car, although Battersby station is less than 2 miles away and provides scenic trips across the North York Moors to Whitby.
