Brittany is a large region of Northwest France which has long been a popular tourist destination due to its diversity and pleasant climate. With beaches, archaeological sites and countless lovely small towns to explore, as well as incredible food, it is the perfect place for a family holiday. And due to the huge number of self catered accommodation available in the region, from farmhouses to villas, it is easy to find deals to make it a surprisingly low cost option for a great holiday!

There is a huge amount to do in Brittany, enough to fill several family holidays. There are the obvious attractions of the region's many beaches, both sandy and rocky alike, but Brittany's main attraction is actually just over the border in neighbouring Normandy. Le Mont Saint Michel is a monastery and village built on top of a rock connected to the mainland by a causeway which is only passable when the tide is out. You'll need to make sure you don't get cut off by the tides, but it is one of France's top tourist destinations and an absolutely incredible place to visit - it looks like something out of Lord of the Rings from a distance, and the nearby beaches also attract many young people keen to practice water sports. Coastal towns such as St Malo are also well worth visiting - full of fantastic seafood and picturesque harbours.
