With beaches, historic sites, cathedrals and areas of outstanding natural beauty, Normandy has something to offer almost everyone. There is an alternative to staying in expensive, restricting hotel rooms too: you and your family can have more freedom in a rented apartment or house. There will be space for you to relax in, and you can plan your meals as and when you like in a fully equipped kitchen. If you do enjoy eating out, of course, Normandy towns such as Honfleur, Cherbourg or Caen have plenty of delightful restaurants and cafes.

Normandy is an ideal destination for anyone with an interest in history, from the Bayeux Tapestry to the wonderful Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Rouen or the beaches and cemeteries associated with the D-Day landings of World War II. Hikers and lovers of the countryside should head for the Suisse Normande area with its rolling hills, woods and rocky cliffs; in its capital Clécy you can go hang-gliding, canoeing or climbing. If you are looking for beaches, Deauville and the Côte Fleurie will be your idea of heaven. Artists will not want to miss Claude Monet's house at Giverny and the picturesque garden that he created there. Perhaps the most spectacular sight of all in Normandy is the Mont Saint Michel, an abbey atop a rock. Consecrated in the year 705, it is now a World Heritage Site.
