Calahonda is a small seaside town in Andalucia's Costa Tropical, nestled in the Granada Province between the much larger Granada and Motril. As it is generally quieter than some of the surrounding towns on the Costa Tropical, it is great for kids, and with great deals available on a range of rental homes, it can also be a low cost destination for a family holiday, far better value than staying in a generic resort hotel.

Calahonda's sandy beach is probably the main attraction of this small town for family holidays, but there is a lot more to do than just soaking up the sun. For sports fans there is also an excellent golf course, and two diving centres within easy reach of the beach. The coastline features many rocky cliffs which are great spots to go diving and snorkelling, and there are facilities to hire equipment if this interests you. You are also just a short drive away from the larger town of Granada, which has a lot more in the way of restaurants, shopping facilities and nightlife - so the bustle of a glitzy resort holiday is there if you want it, or you can have a slightly quieter family break with the kids in Calahonda itself.
