Calahonda holiday rentals
Calahonda is a small seaside town in Andalucia's Costa Tropical, nestled in the Granada Province between the much larger Granada and Motril. As it is generally quieter than some of the surrounding towns on the Costa Tropical, it is great for kids, and with great deals available on a range of rental homes, it can also be a low cost destination for a family holiday, far better value than staying in a generic resort hotel.
What to do in Calahonda
Calahonda's sandy beach is probably the main attraction of this small town for family holidays, but there is a lot more to do than just soaking up the sun. Although it is a modern resort town, signs of Calahonda's past, including its Moorish heritage, can be seen everywhere, particularly in the ancient watch towers that are dotted along the coastline. For sports fans there is also an excellent golf course, and two diving centres within easy reach of the beach. The coastline features many rocky cliffs which are great spots to go diving and snorkelling, and there are facilities to hire equipment if this interests you. You are also just a short drive away from the larger town of Granada, which has a lot more in the way of restaurants, shopping facilities and nightlife - so the bustle of a glitzy resort holiday is there if you want it, or you can have a slightly quieter family break with the kids in Calahonda itself.
Apartment rentals in Calahonda
With a wide range of villa and apartment rentals available in Calahonda and the surrounding area for around £500 a week for a property for a family of four or more, these rental homes can be a great money saving option and also provide extra space for the kids to run around and let off steam without disturbing other holidaymakers or residents. If you want to spend a day on a longer trip or excursion during your family holiday, a self-catered rental home also gives you extra flexibility when it comes to mealtimes, rather than having to work around the hotel restaurant's opening times.
