Day Trips in Corfu
Corfu town is the capital of Corfu, and one of the best destinations for a day trip in Corfu. Here there is the Palace of St Michael and St George. This British 19th century palace was once the residence of the High Commissioner, and was also occupied by the Greek royal family. At this palace there is the Museum of Asiatic Art with displays statues, armour, silk, and ceramics from Asia. Corfu town also includes Agios Spyridon which is the tallest church in Corfu. Beyond Corfu town, in the south of Corfu, is the 19th century Achilleion Palace which was formerly occupied by Empress Elizabeth of Austria.
