City sights
Aside from simply strolling around the city to take in the amazing architecture, there’s a wealth of things to see and do in Copenhagen. Nyhavn, which was once a commercial port, is now home to upmarket restaurants and live jazz venues. Soak up the relaxed atmosphere as you stroll past some notable houses: No.9 is the oldest house in the area, dating back to 1681, and No.20 was the home of the famous fairytale writer, Hans Christian Andersen. The whole family will love Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen’s amusement park. Here you’ll find stunningly beautiful gardens, exotic architecture and some state-of-the-art roller coasters. One of the main attractions is the nostalgic Wooden Roller Coaster which has been entertaining visitors since 1914.
Music & art
Culture vultures will be in their element in Copenhagen. For an evening at the theatre, take your seats for a performance at the Royal Danish Theatre on the King’s New Square or maybe the Royal Danish Playhouse (Skuespilhuset) on the waterfront. You’ll find world-class contemporary art galleries all over Copenhagen - it’s ideal for art lovers. For live music, there’s everything from classical recitals at the National Concert Hall, underground dance clubs and opera at the Copenhagen Opera House (Operaen).
