Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, the town of Luray has an amazing number of attractions that are sure to provide enjoyment for the whole family. Recently dubbed the cabin capital of Virginia, finding a lovely rental cabin or cottage here is a piece of cake. You might choose to kayak or fish the Shenandoah. You can visit Luray Caverns or enjoy dining out. Our nation's capital is less than two hours away, so you may find that you can have two holidays for the price of one if you choose a holiday rental in Luray.
Shenandoah National Park
This stunning park celebrates its seventy-fifth anniversary in 2011. You can rent a cabin right in the park to take full advantage of this celebrated natural space. Hike the trails, picnic on the shores of the Shenandoah River, or just enjoy the scenery—either way, you'll be glad you chose a holiday rental here. If you love the fall foliage, mid-October is the peak season to see the changing leaves.
Water Fun
There is so much you can do on the Shenandoah River. There are several local companies that specialize in renting canoes, kayaks, and tubes for cruising the river. If you're feeling more adventurous, try white water rafting. Better yet, fish the Shenandoah River and have your own fish fry back at your rental cabin.
Luray Cabins
No visit to Luray would be complete without a visit to Luray Caverns. The actual caverns are amazing, with truly cathedral-like rooms. While there are many caverns to visit around the Shenandoah Valley, Luray Caverns is the only one to feature a Stalacpipe Organ. After exploring the caverns, see if you can navigate the one-acre garden maze. Or soak up some history at the Luray Valley Museum. Across the street is the Belle Brown Northcott Memorial Carillon, better known as the Luray Singing Tower, which boasts forty-seven bells. The Tower gives free recitals from spring until fall. You'll be humming the tunes all the way back to your cabin rental.
Farmer's Market
One of the benefits of a holiday rental is that you can prepare many of your meals in a fully equipped kitchen. From May until October, the Luray/Page County Farmer's Market offers fresh local produce, meats, and baked goods. If you don't want to go back to your holiday rental right away, breakfast and lunch are prepared right on the grounds. You can also see offerings from local artists and craftspeople.
Something for Everyone
In addition to all the outdoor fun, you'll also find shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities in Luray. Luray may be a small town, but there is so much to do you'll never be bored. Choose a rental property in Luray for your next holiday.
