If you fancy a little retail therapy, you’ll find some great shops nearby too where you can stock up on sun-cream. It’s easy to spend many days here, topping up your tan and taking a dip from time to time.
Playa Flamingo is just a few minutes walk along the seafront. This clean, safe and attractive beach is a little quieter than Playa Blanca so it’s ideal for parents with young children. If it’s natural beauty you’re after, then take a day trip to Papagayo. This collection of smaller beaches separated by high cliffs form secluded sheltered bays and is now a national park. Its calm seas make swimming a pleasure and the views of the cliffs at Papagayo are stunning.
Cafe del Mar in the new Marina Rubicon is great for having a relaxing and watching the boats in the harbour. If tapas is sets your taste buds alight, you’ll find plenty of tempting places to eat. Many of the restaurants along the harbour host live music most nights of the week so you can dine while listening to some laid back jazz. There are some amazing seafood restaurants here too so be sure to check out the specials board for the finest catch of the day.
In the evening, get your glad rags on and head to Centro Comercial Papagayo or Centro Comercial Punta Limones where you’ll find some lively disco and karaoke bars. Friday and Saturday nights tend to be busier as the locals join in the fun.
